Spent a few very hot days in Daytona Beach this week for Welcome To Rockville. In Anberlin’s 24 year career & Mayday Parade’s 20 year career, neither band that calls Florida home had played their state’s biggest rock festival until Thursday. As I watched each set from behind the curtain to a sea of fans, I was proud to celebrate another milestone accomplishment in both of their very decorated careers. I also got to see the lead singer of Godsmack passionately beg a caterer for cookies after they had already put them up at lunch. They made him a fresh batch and brought to his table before I even finished my chicken. Godsmack now has all my respect. That’s called having freaking stroke my friends.

Matt Nathanson joined the Michael Dorf presents Billy Joel Tribute night at Carnegie Hall in New York this past week along with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Natalie Merchant, Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20), Pat Monahan (Train), Marc Roberge (OAR), Gavin DeGraw, Rufus Wainwright, Tanya Tucker and many more. Matt was the only act who performed two songs and Billy Joel’s band asked him to lead the encore after they saw his enthusiasm during rehearsals.
