When I first saw this piece of wearable art I knew I had to shoot with it in nature!! Suzanne was so generous and enthusiastic to share this work and allow me to create with @aram_ghomi 🥰 #aggregate by the one and only @hihicreative

Sometimes when I look at the edge of the earth, I see bodies nestled in the cracks
And sometimes when I look at bodies, I see the whole world 🌎

Love is how the revolution begins and love is how it ends

We thought long and hard before getting married at MayDay in Minneapolis. MayDay honors workers rights, immigrant rights. It’s about tearing down systems of oppression.
But it’s also about joy. Community joy. And this is where we came in. We decided to get married and dance in the parade as an act of hope. To live out our value that only by celebrating together as neighbors can we fight together as a unified front.
So we made a bunch of giant flowers out of recycled cardboard, painted a banner that said SHARE LOVE, SHARE RESOURCES, SHARE JOY, SHARE FLOWERS, and did just that. We danced down the streets to the cheers of our city and passed out as many springtime flowers as we could.
And I think we brought a few smiles to a few faces.
We were smiling pretty damn big.

*record scratch* You’re probably wondering how we ended up in this situation…
In the 17-year history of the Extraordinary Rendition Band, we’ve played in a whole lot of parades. We’ve also crashed a few weddings. But we had never done both at the same time — until this weekend.
This is Summer and Joshua. These lovebirds got married Sunday morning on their way to the Minneapolis Mayday festival. They and their friends slotted in right behind us in the parade. So ERB became their wedding band over their walk down the aisle to Powderhorn Park!
There was already magic in the air throughout the Mayday festival, but getting to play for and dance with the happy couple was truly a highlight of our trip to Minnesota.
Congratulations, @a.summer.grove and @joshuaflowgrove ! And thank you @worksamplethis for sharing these amazing shots of the citywide wedding reception!
METAMORPHOSIS
Even after the reclamation
There are times
You’ll stop in your tracks
The pain returns
Like a deep ache
You question, was it the right choice?
Know now, love
You only have one life to live
And choosing yourself is always right
The temporary comfort of complacency
Will never silence
Your intuition.
When she speaks,
Listen
& move accordingly.

METAMORPHOSIS
What comes after the fire
after the anger?
A remembering.
The quiet return to your deepest self.
It is the reclamation of your soul,
your purpose,
the light that has always lived within you.
A healing place
where intuition begins to speak again
and you trust its voice.
You remember your worth
and turn gently away
from anything that asks you to doubt it.
Life will always carry struggle,
storms woven into its seasons.
But it is our mindset
and the way we rise afterward
that allows the wounds
to become wisdom.

METAMORPHOSIS
Anger is a powerful emotion. First the smoke will rise, but If you push it down for too long, it will eventually erupt 🌋
The challenge is to transmute it—to use that rage to redesign our lives. How can anger help us rewrite our boundaries and reshape our experiences?
What kind of treatment are you willing to accept from those who claim to love you? After all, deciding that is a form of self-love, too.
🖤
Once you move through it the energy you exude becomes unfuckwittable. Embody that.

METAMORPHOSIS
As I reflect on my year coming to an end, the first word that comes to mind is GRIEF.
There’s an intense sadness associated with the realization that the path you chose is not in alignment with who you are. You mourn the dreams you shared, the memories, the plans you made. You mourn the version of yourself that had hope.
My healer reminded me, it is okay to feel. I have been sober, sitting in grief and reflection. I laid on the cracked earth asking God, “why must I experience this pain?”
I felt the answer deep within me, “because you are made for more.”

i cannot tell if this performance is an illusion of my own muscle memory
but maybe the act is what formulates the whole
maybe this dance sequence is the making
to be nothing short of myself
