Introducing Yorkshire Sculpture International's new Programme Producer! We are excited to welcome Marion Harrison to the Yorkshire Sculpture International team. Marion will relaunch the YSI Sculpture Network this spring, to support artists who work in sculpture and live in Yorkshire.  Marion has joined YSI after 25 years as a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University. An independent artist and educator, she studied sculpture and has an interdisciplinary practice. She's recently worked in radio, broadcast and curation, in particular projects that encourage collaboration and exchange. Reflecting on the role, Marion said: ‘I am really looking forward to joining the Yorkshire Sculpture International team and relaunching the YSI Sculpture Network. This is a great chance to work with artists in the region to develop their careers and feel the support of YSI and our regional partners. The network offers a valuable and useful framework giving artists the time to build their confidence, meet other artists and curators and develop their practice in new and exciting ways.'  Since its launch in 2020, the YSI partnership has supported fifty artists through the YSI Sculpture Network. We are so pleased to be able to continue our commitment to the important community of contemporary sculptors in the region through this crucial programme, and for an exciting new chapter for YSI. Keep an out for more info coming soon including details of how you can get involved in the network. YSI is a partnership between Henry Moore Institute, The Hepworth Wakefield, Leeds Art Gallery, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park: celebrating Yorkshire as a hub for sculptural excellence. @henrymooreinstitute @hepworthwakefield @leedsartgallery @yspsculpture

Sun is shining!🌱 Few updates now Spring is round the corner I am really looking forward to working with Jane Sillis + Hannah Gaunt at @engagevisualart as Event Coordinator for The Gathering annual conference in Nov in Bradford. Delighted to receive an @anartistsinfo bursary last month to develop some new work, new skills and some mentoring. This follows on from a residency I did last summer at @the.museum.of.loss.and.renewal with @tracy.mackenna.studio . Applications now open for 2025 individual and group residencies both in Italy and Orkney- I highly recommend! Enjoyed sharing a film I made at Towards a Manifesto for Arts Education conference at @balticgateshead @northumbriauni . Title : outtakes, outcomes, takeouts and hangouts was collaged together from experimental AV work produced by students on BA (Hons) Contemporary Art Practices course which ran in Leeds from 1998-2010 and which I taught on. This course established by @derekhorton_leeds and Chris Bloor was highly interdisciplinary and also had a deliberate policy of recruiting and working with students with a desire to attend art school regardless of their previous art education or lack of it, enabling very diverse cohorts of students in terms of age, class, and ethnicity. A course that actively chose to do something different. More to come on this.. Visited an old friend and former colleague (European Exchange Academy, Berlin) @berndtrasberger who is making public sculptural works for the new Darley Street market in Bradford. Bernd is repurposing Fritz Steller tiles from Kirkgate Market for this new work. New Bursts programme at @hydeparkartclub starting at the end of the month. Bursts is an opportunity for art + design courses in Leeds to use the spaces at the artist-led HPAC for student-led exhibitions/events/screenings/performances. Looking forward to working with final year illustration students from @leedsartsuni and MA FA @fahacs @i.never.agreed in the coming months. Finally read The Wastes by @potnast - if you haven't yet - you must. Brilliant. And to finish a few studio shots of some older and newer works in progress .. Thanks for listening! Until next month 😊🌱
