If you comment ‘working hard’, I’ll send you a link to the new home of our (kind of new) podcast! I’ve been doing this for three years now. But over this past year, it feels like we’ve really become a little (million person a month 🤠) community. A group of people who are all obsessed with improving their lives, but don’t want the podcasts to be boring or just about classic life improvement topics. Who want to know more about the world, but don’t want to only be lectured by men in suits. So, about 6 months ago I decided not just to relaunch the whole podcast, to shoot new cover art in a DIY shoot in my kitchen, but to make a space for exactly those people. A space for sharing article recommendations, unfiltered expert advice, genuinely useful content, the memes I howl at each week. A podcast Instagram actually worth following that’ll hopefully make it easier to stay up to date with what you should know. We’re @workinghardpod , and the ‘first’ episode is out tomorrow morning, I hope you love it.

I used to think “if it’s meant for me, it’ll find me.” which sounds comforting, until you realise you’ve accidentally turned your whole life into a waiting room. It’s so easy to think the right opportunities, the right people, the right career moves will somehow just arrive when the timing is “aligned,” but I also think you have to meet luck halfway. Of course, I know everyone starts from very different places when it comes to access and opportunity, and that shapes a lot more than people like to admit. But after reading this article by Alexa Rose, I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea that luck isn’t just something that happens to you, it’s something that happens around you when you make yourself visible enough to be found. So I broke down the mindset shifts that have helped me stop waiting around for life to happen, and start creating more surface area for opportunities instead. I hope it’s useful to you too! 🗞️🤍

Happy sophia-and-cinzia-on-working-hard day to all who celebrate!! (If you comment 'girls' I'll send you the link to the episode) Soph & Cinz almost never do podcast interviews, so I’m very grateful they came on for a proper catch up. We talked about growing up together from primary school to building The Girls Bathroom, what it’s been like turning a friendship into a career without ruining the friendship, and how they’ve learnt to evolve online without just chasing whatever everyone else is doing. We also get into @fromrooms , why they waited so long to launch something of their own, the pressure of putting out a product when people already know you, and the very real lesson of growing in public. And of course we answered some of your dilemmas, because they are our collective agony aunts so it felt wrong not to, I hope you love it! 🎀🌸🎙️💛

getting promoted isn’t just about working harder, it’s about doing the right hard things: - taking ownership before you’re asked - doing the work other people avoid - practicing learning as a skill - making yourself genuinely useful and as Vanessa Kingori says in this episode, “the number one productivity hack is joy.” the people who grow the fastest are usually the people genuinely energised by what they’re building and learning ✨ being organised also makes it much easier to see where you’re growing and what’s actually moving you forward - @theproductivitymethod planners are perfect for this (get ££ off with the code TPMWH15) if you want more, the full episode is out now on Working Hard, wherever you get your podcasts 🎧
