Day 2 at Lusty Beg Island has been nothing short of incredible! ☀️The students have been making the most of the beautiful Fermanagh weather, starting the day with archery before hopping on a Rib boat for a scenic cruise over to the stunning Inish Davar Island.
The adventure didn’t stop there—air rifle shooting, kayaking, and water biking kept everyone busy, followed by some well-earned time in the indoor pool before dinner.🤽♀️
It’s safe to say there’ll be some very tired heads tonight—especially Sandra, Debbie, and Barry!

🎉 Today we’re celebrating 30 years of Paul Boyle at Workforce! 🎉
Paul began his journey in 1996 as an Essential Skills Tutor and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the organisation. From overseeing our Construction team 🏗️, to managing quality 📊, and for the past 10 years leading as Head of the organisation 👏, his impact has been felt at every level.
At the heart of Paul’s work is a simple but powerful belief: every Workforce student deserves the opportunity to achieve their goals and aspirations 🌟, regardless of their background or past experiences.
People often wonder what Paul does behind the scenes each day 🤔 — but the truth is, Workforce simply wouldn’t be where it is today without his leadership, dedication, and vision.
As we look ahead to our 50th year in 2028 🎯, we’re proud to have Paul guiding us forward (hopefully with a little less grey hairs along the way! 😄).
Thank you, Paul, for 30 years of commitment, passion, and making a difference 🙌💙
I recently had the opportunity to visit Workforce Training Services on the Springfield Road alongside Councillor Claire Canavan, meeting staff and young people benefiting from their programmes.
Our young people in West Belfast have huge potential. It’s vital we continue to provide real opportunities for skills development, training, and access to meaningful employment. Initiatives like this are helping build confidence, gain qualifications, and open pathways to future careers.
It was especially encouraging to meet so many students, determined to improve their prospects and contribute positively to our community. Investing in them is investing in the future of West Belfast.
Sinn Féin remains committed to working with local organisations, educators and employers to expand opportunities and ensure no one is left behind.
Last week, we were delighted to host an information session for parents on the ApprenticeshipsNI programme and discuss how they can best support their child on the journey towards an apprenticeship. 🎓
Apprenticeships offer a fantastic pathway for young people to gain industry-recognised qualifications while earning 💼, gaining valuable hands-on experience 🔧, and developing essential workplace skills 📈.
Thank you to everyone who attended. If you would like to learn more about the ApprenticeshipsNI programme, please visit our website or contact our Employer Engagement Team! 📞🌐

A group of our Motor Vehicle students had a fantastic visit to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum this week! 🚗💨
The group were excited to get up close to the iconic DeLorean and explore its unique design and local history. They also enjoyed seeing steam engines in action, bringing engineering concepts to life right before their eyes.
A great day of learning beyond the classroom, sparking curiosity and inspiration for the next generation of Technicians! 🔧✨
