A joint statement from the organisers @workersmakepossible and @sgclimaterally :
"We are incredibly energised by the passionate show of support. This was a landmark rally where climate and labour sectors linked arms in the fight against capitalism’s brutal assaults on workers and the environment. More than 1500 protestors assembled for a genuine, people’s Labour Day rally, recognising the urgency of taking action — many of them signing up to join grassroots organisations. This turnout was despite the humble resources that organisers had and the many barriers we faced in getting the word out about the rally, given the extreme limits on our freedom of expression and assembly in Singapore. Moreover, the government denies migrant workers, who make up a big part of the workforce in Singapore, the right to take part in such assemblies.
It is undeniable that the mass movement for ecosocialism is growing in Singapore. We call on the workers of Singapore to unite and fight for the future we deserve, no matter what sector you are in — and we promise to fight with you."

This was a speech by Roon, an F&B worker, in solidarity with the worker group @_mmworkers . It was delivered at the Labour Day Rally, held on 1 May 2026 at Hong Lim Park. Roon is currently struggling with job insecurity and long-term housing precarity due to a back injury. If you would like to support Roon, visit @roonie.goonie to find out more.

This was a speech by Nasita, a member of We Support Us, a network of rental flat residents fighting to end poverty. It was delivered at the Labour Day Rally, held on 1 May 2026 at Hong Lim Park.
✊ We were at Hong Lim Park one week ago (1 May) as part of the 2026 Labour-Climate Rally with 31 other amazing organisations and worker and environment groups (including @sgclimaterally@workersmakepossible ). We shared with the 1500+ strong crowd about food rescue, the impacts of food waste, our work and how folks can volunteer with us, and gave out rescued food (veggies/fruits rescued from the night before)! We certainly also stand with workers and our living earth - we need everyone everywhere to have decent lives (and that can only happen if our systems and economies stop driving our living environments to a point they can no longer support us)
Rakyat bersatu pasti menang! @labourdaysg
ps. special thanks to our incredible team from SUSS and our LIVC volunteers, from those coordinating and driving logistics behind the scenes, those who did the veggie rescue the night before, those preparing outreach materials, to those you see here in these photos!

Over 1,500 workers, caregivers, climate advocates and ordinary Singaporeans turned out at Hong Lim Park on 1 May 2026 for the country’s Labour Day rally — the first ever jointly organised by Workers Make Possible and SG Climate Rally. Under the theme “Running Out of Time”, speakers from across sectors — a PHV driver, a single mother of five, an F&B worker, a climate organiser — shared what overwork, unaffordable living, and a warming planet actually looks like from the ground. The movement is growing. Read TOC’s full report. #LabourDay2026 #runningoutoftime
People’s Artists Initiative stands with the workers of the world in commemorating International Labor Day, honoring the hard-won victory of workers in their struggle for an eight hour workday. It reminds us that the aspirations of the masses can only be achieved through collective struggle.
Now more than ever, as crises brought by US Imperialism intensify on a global scale, the role of artists becomes crucial. As artists and cultural workers, we recognize that the culture we produce can either challenge or reinforce social narratives shaped by economic conditions. While art alone can’t change an entire system, artists, through mass work, can unite with the working class in its struggle for living wages, work safety and security, and right to organize; to develop a truly pro-people culture.
Artists unite with workers — fight for a just future! Find us tomorrow at Hong Lim Park as we join WorkersMakePossible, SG Climate Rally, and the Singapore movement! #joinPAI
