The first of 100 super sized forget me nots were installed at the Memorial Gardens here in Ynyshir.
As part of the Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Awareness Week, these flowers were created by volunteers of the Friends of the Workers Gallery.
Working with the local Royal British Legion volunteers the Friends created this eye catching display. The fabulous Rhondda Rotary are supporting and coordinating the creation of this trail of forget me nots across the Rhondda valley this week.
Join the Meet and Make Friends tea party at the Workers on 20th May 12-2pm as part of this awareness week. All welcome - especially those living with dementia and their family, friends and carers.

In just two weeks’ time I’ll be back where it all began, the @workersgallery - celebrating the launch of my graphic novel Noisy Valley.
The Workers was born from protest - against the closure of a local library for the people of #Ynyshir. And now it’s a cultural centre for the community - and so much more. My book tells the story of the Workers, alongside stories of several local #Rhondda residents.
Come along on the 29th to hear from some of them, and me - and to celebrate! I’ll pop the link in my stories and highlights. Would be so great to see you there (it’s “pay as you wish” - or, you can buy the book alongside your ticket. I’ll be happy to sign it!)
Ann and David met at a dance hall here in the South Wales valley. See and read their love story - which includes a ride on a lambretta - as part of Rhondda Drawn and Read exhibition of comics and zines created by creatives of all ages from across the valley.
Last day of exhibition is Saturday 18th April 10am-5pm
Free entry & free zines!
Last chance to see the fabulous Rhondda Drawn and Read exhibition - celebratory stories of and by the Rhondda creative community.
Open 10am-5pm Saturday 18 April.
And grab your free zines - with special thanks to Friends of Wattstown Memorial Park.

What a fabulous Saturday afternoon!
The Meet and Make Friends group (for those living with dementia and their family, friends and carers) had a cream tea experience at our lovely neighbours - the Paul Kirner's Music Palace.
Ben and Gareth (pictured) gave visitors an introduction to the charity's work, played a selection the restored organs including accompanying a Buster Keaton silent movie!
Search Paul Kirner's Music Palace for more about their wonderful work and forthcoming events here in Ynyshir.

Resident artist @chris_williams_sculpture has just dropped his latest process video (part 2) on his YouTube channel - Masterwoodchip.
It reveals how he converted timber from a 100 year old bell tower structure in Llantrisant Church into the central cross of a new sculptural piece he was commissioned to create for this historic building.
Chris makes his work here at the Workers Workshop and it's wonderful to see such an iconic sculpture being created.
His Masterwoodchip Channel is full of videos, including his sculpture work, tool restoration projects and outdoor work.
Please give him a follow here on Instagram and check out his videos.
