287g agreements are commitments of state and local law enforcement to carry out immigration enforcement duties with minimal training. This diverts local resources away from public safety to enforce federal civil immigration law. There are four models, and slide 7 lists the active agreements in NY.

What can you do?
🏘Check if your county/town has an agreement. If they do, work with your neighbors to demand that they break it.

As many of you have heard by now, a beloved Board Member of WCCNY, advocate for women’s and farmworker’s rights and community organizer Dolores Bustamante was detained yesterday at her ICE check-in.
We have since learned that she was transferred to a jail in Ohio and subsequently to a detention facility in Louisiana. Further separating her from her family and the community that is fighting for her release, despite a judge’s order to keep her in NY.
