Hey y’all 👋🏾
I’m Calvin 007 (@cal.crm ), a Berlin-based trans man walking Transman Realness in the ballroom scene. I entered ballroom in spring 2023 and have since walked in Germany and Paris. By the end of 2023, I joined WorkdatCxnt, where I found a space that lets me explore different categories and connect with other transmasculine people in ways that feel genuine and empowering. Besides that being part of the collective also gave me real sense of passion — from hosting screenings and workshops to organizing my first ball and starting a podcast.
I began my transition in 2014, in a place with very little queer BIPOC visibility, so being part of ballroom now means a lot — it’s a space where I can show up fully and contribute to a growing community. Outside of ballroom, I’m into building things — from woodworking and design projects to lifting weights and supporting friends in their fitness journeys. For me, ballroom is about creating space where people can grow, have a sense of belonging and show up exactly as they are.
Looking back, we’re overwhelmed with gratitude.
This recap is a testament to the unwavering support from everyone who has engaged with Workdatcxnt over the past two years. 🫵🏽
From building safe spaces and fostering connection, to uplifting and empowering BIPoC transmasculine voices, it’s in looking back that we truly see the impact we’ve made together.
Our commitment remains strong: to decolonial, anti-racist, and intersectional work that centers every voice.
This journey has taken heart and hustle, and there’s still more to do, but we’re so excited for what’s ahead.
Thank you for being here. Thank you to everyone who sponsors us and believes in the work we do. See you in the new year. 🫶🏽
Jota Kayodê Ramos, also known as Mandrake 007 (@jotakayode ), is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist and activist. His journey in the ballroom scene began in 2019 while he was living in New York. That same year, he actively participated in the first ball ever in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He took his first steps on the runway in 2022 in Berlin, walking TM Realness and AA Runway. He has had the privilege of walking in cities such as New York, Paris, Brussels, and across Germany and Brazil, racking up over 20 Grand Prizes. As a co-founder of workdatcxnt, he sees how important it is to create a space where ballroom culture can serve as a place for empowerment. Through the collective, he wants to uplift more transmasculine voices, particularly BIPOC with migrant backgrounds. He hopes to inspire the community to reflect on TM identities and sense of belonging.

“It's not just about gathering in a room. It's about creating a space where we can exhale, where we don't have to explain ourselves”
- Calvin Croom (he/him), @workdatcxnt , Germany
There’s a kind of work that rarely gets named.
The invisible work of being trans exists in our everyday moments: caring for our chosen family, organising for our communities, preparing for appointments and finding ways through systems that weren’t designed for us.
Even when we are visible, this work often goes unseen.
In the lead up to Trans Day of Visibility on 31 March, we’re making space for these realities to be shared in our own words and on our own terms.
Watch the videos from our community members, trans people across Europe and Central Asia, to hear their stories.
