Snow & Co. has launched the Tuuli C, the first diesel-electric hybrid ship-assist tug in an eight-vessel series for Curtin Maritime. Arc is supplying a 6-MWh battery system producing 4,000+ hp with 55 tons of bollard pull. The second hull is already under construction.

The Delaware Bay and River Cooperative has taken delivery of the Delaware Responder, a 65' fast-response oil skimmer built by Rozema Boat Works — the first of its size on the U.S. East Coast. The vessel can transit at 25 knots and skim oil at 2 knots using an integrated separation system.

WorkBoat interviewed Otto Candies III, CEO and chairman of Otto Candies LLC, a third-generation family-owned offshore marine services company based in Des Allemands, La. The company was founded in 1942 by his grandfather, who started by clearing water lilies and running supplies on South Louisiana bayous. Seven fourth-generation family members now work in the business.
The fleet today: six OSVs serving the U.S. Gulf oil and gas market, 10 IMR vessels (crane capacities 100-250 tons) split between Gulf O&G and East Coast offshore wind, and one 400'x126' oceangoing deck barge. At any given time, three to four IMR vessels are working wind projects.

Marquette Transportation christened its 10,000-hp flagship towboat, the John Paul Eckstein, in New Orleans. The 189'x50' vessel was built by C&C Marine and Repair and designed by CT Marine, featuring the only high-lift steering rudder system on any towboat in service.
