Two boys. No referee. No rules. Just sand, salt, and fists.
Beg Forgiveness is a photo story set on a beach in Ghana, where two Black boys choose to settle their score the only way they know how, through a raw, unfiltered fight. The ocean is just a few feet away, peaceful and endless, but in this moment, their world is reduced to bruises and breath.
This work was inspired by Creed, not just the action, but the emotion behind every punch. I wanted to explore what it really means when young men are told to “man up,” to settle things with violence rather than conversation. Why do we carry pain this way? Why is strength measured in silence or bruises?
The story doesn’t celebrate the fight. It questions it. These aren’t just two boys boxing. This is a ritual that too many boys go through learning to suppress, to lash out, to hold back what they actually want to say.
Beg Forgiveness is my way of saying maybe it’s time we find another way.
