I'm ecstatic to announce that my artwork "These Tears of Joy" will be part of the Jouissance art exhibit starting Friday April 3rd til the 9th with possibility of extension. Curated by @michelesaintmichel and hosted by @millennium_film , there will be a night of films, performances, and installation art. @badsaturnmedia will also debut an experimental artist book and a live production. Come to Brooklyn at 7:30 PM and get a ticket, where Jouissance will explore pleasure, embodiment, and intensity through moving image and live work. A form of pleasure that exceeds ordinary satisfaction and move towards intensity, excess, and transformation. It engages how time-based media can engage sensation, vulnerability, and perception "These Tears of Joy" is an archive documenting my tears of joy for over six years, originating on my Instagram. Check out my ✨️💦 highlights. I never felt beautiful until I started taking happy tears selfies. I grew so much from this process, at first never telling the origin they made me cry out of joy to sending a selfie automatically to the stranger. There is so no surer sign of my joy than when I cry and I'm absolutely blessed my body could offer such a precious gift. An alert that I must pay closer attention to this person, this singular moment. I am grateful for this excess and affirmations. Some of those mentioned are no longer in my life but I wish them well and I hope they know they gave my life meaning. However brief our road together. In addition to a physical index card archive stored in a thrifted vintage metal box, I will type them out and have it publicly viewable online. As well as printing the pages out into a binder in case my handwriting is too messy haha. I will also make mini zines for visitors to take home, held in the red ornate basket. A manifesto to encourage folks to document their tears of joy, and especially telling others when they are their reason why they're incredibly happy. To be vulnerable, to be so open, to truly be intimate and practice deep care and be absolutely present regardless of the state of the world. It is sacred and so generous and I am incredibly lucky I get to live this way. Thank you Michéle ✨

100 Days Towards a Full Card Catalog | Days 3-8: Behind on index cards but I DID figure out my Curator/Fictional Protagonist's name: Eleanor Cataag Credo. I was at first against having her sharing the first initial as mine (Eileen), but I recently bought through Thriftbooks a novel, "Eleanor or the Rejection of the Progress of Love" by Anna Moschovakis @goodutopian , which has been on my wishlist for at least a year or two. In reading I saw that Eleanor is also approaching 40 like me (though I'll be 38 this year), and the book takes place in the beginning of March! in NYC! Which is apt as this project is made via Prospect Heights Art Club @phac.xyz Plus she's the protagonist of an unnamed author! It all felt way too fitting to ignore. I'm considering annotating as Eleanor though she won't be aware she is my protagonist. I think it'd be really cool and a nice companion to the card catalog when it's installed at the One Good Work show. I would love to add stickers, post-it notes, flags, doodles, and more. It'll be a great way to get to know her and her journey. . I was looking through popular Filipino surnames and after scrolling over 900 I found "Credo" which is Latin for "I believe". Extremely fitting as this is a card catalog and there is an authority of belief there. From Eleanor Credo you can find the word "card" and then I wanted to add a middle name which you can find "catalog", I arrived at Catag which is synchronously a Filipino surname! There's a variation of "Cataag" which felt less on the nose, and yet more intriguing because it means "spread" which is especially apt since I'm picturing this card catalog touching on a lot of subjects in a lot of different ways. I'm so excited you have no idea lol. . I began a green basket of the items I'll be glue gunning: tiny plastic bag holding a green and orange dice, garnet capsule @office.of.collecting , silver "E" pendants @kaixingmun , earring of a pearl in a gold clamshell, vintage parrot brooches in clothes, 4 tiny blank books, ornate wood globe clock, yellow smiley star ceramic by @houseofsoobidoo , gold bee pendant on twine, @aredotna stickers, hell money, and tiny vintage kokeshi doll . 100 Days Towards a Full Card Catalog | Here are my first and second day entries for the 100 Day Project yay! @dothe100dayproject @phac.xyz I'll post today's sometime tomorrow once it's done. I didn't want to create a huge backlog. I'm slowly figuring out the fictional curator as I create these index cards. She confronts her failings and longs for more, but isn't sure if that even exists. Hopefully this week I'll discover her name and any ways she's different from me. It feels pretty cool to address our same circumstances like this huge blizzard I haven't experienced in many years. I really thought we wouldn't need a snow blower anymore given how light it was the past three. Day 001: Pink index card from Resketch @resketchbrand has black and white security envelope scrap with parallel black lines in different directions, the Curator colors 2 sets of lines blue and doodles more parallel lines leaking out of the edges. In the upper right is white out covering up the date. In the same sky blue she writes: "I know we cannot let the World determine our heart, but why can't we prevent it from determining our place?! I'm an unknown cog serving masters who will never care for me, and I protect interests that only serve to hurt me in the end...is that all true or is this life more unknown, random, and uncaring than that? I just want to be found." On the back she writes the date February 22nd in the upper right hand corner. Day 002:  Classic blue-lined white index card has a freebie sticker of the Poemo Art @poemoart mascot mouse Shumo trapped in an ice cube. It reads in blue ballpoint pen: "I never thought I'd see such levels of deep snow again with the current temperature of the seas. It felt like a miracle but more like a trap. At least a foot of snow in every road and no way to leave home but via trudge & too many layers. We see such wonders as an inconvenience. How I wish to be less self-serving and more alive and grateful." On the back it reads February 23rd in the same corner. Further in the comments

100 Days Towards a Full Card Catalog | For my 100 Day project @dothe100dayproject , I'm combining it with my One Good Work endeavor, hosted by Prospect Heights Art Club @phac.xyz . You work on a creative project from now until the summer art show in NYC. And for the 100 day project, you focus on a creative task every day for 100 days and document them online. I'm hoping to grid post them and I'll put them on my stories and create a highlight (One Good Work), as well as any tidbits and tangents I come across day to day. For One Good Work (OGW) you sign up for your 2 mediums (mine are objects & fiction) as well as get assigned a cross disciplinary house, and if you can get to NYC you can do meet ups. A lot of the discussion takes place in the Discord. Yesterday, the Objects faction met up in Harlem at The Studio museum which focuses on Black art. It was sooo good & inspiring, such a strong range of art, I really enjoyed it and it's pay what you can. Everyone was so nice, interesting, and vibrant. Also, with OGW you can join from anywhere around the world and there is no cost to join. . My OGW is to fill up this thrifted vintage metal 4 drawer card catalog I won from an auction at ShopGoodwill.com, with index cards. Its Curator is a fictionalized version of me as a Filipina American writer in her late 30s hehe. The identity won't be made obvious in the cards, but it's good to have a framework. Right now I'm trying to figure out her motive for filling up the card catalog: boredom? narcissism? fear? trying to hold onto her world? herself? Is it out of loneliness? The index cards themselves will usually hold objects or ephemera, even trash: candy wrappers, watch gears, labels, stickers, lint, origami, etc. . Forever in the comments.

Hosting another Junk Journal Hang & Zine Trade night at the wonderful Purgatory Bar in Brooklyn, just one block away from the L Wilson stop. It's free but donations are encouraged. You are welcome to work on any art projects and I'll be hauling a big rolling luggage full of 80s stationery, stickers galore, lots of scissors & gluesticks, and paper surprises. I have an old page a day calendar of uplifting quotes from famous women and a book of bibliophilia themed stickers. I'll also offer zines for trading, including a brand new one I hope to print before that Wednesday. I have so much fun hosting, truly a top highlight of every month. I also plan on bringing books & magazines that would inspire great zines and artmaking. Feel free to bring your own zines and art supplies to share. Let me know if I'll see you there. Enjoy your weekend! @purgatory.bk Link in bio to RSVP: https://link.dice.fm/e83f63fd7085 #brooklynevents #brooklyn #junkjournal #zinetrade #nyc

I am over the moon to announce my interactive artwork dual rolodex, Correspondence, will be part of @yonkersarts WORDS exhibit! First displayed at Quantum Intimacies by the truly incredible curator & artist @michelesaintmichel at @millennium_film last year, this 1950s relic contains pairs of cards, each containing half of an ephemera or rubbish. Food packaging, Metrocard (RIP), security liners, washi tape, 90s expired coupon, dollar store stickers, etc. Together they each contain flash fiction, a list, black out poetry, and so much more, concerning the themes of love, intimacy, and grief. With this new iteration, I plan on adding diagrams, poem comics, drawings, and experiments. Every card's back will have the typed-out version of the front's handwriting, pasted upside down so it can be read without taken out. You can mix and match as you rotate the wheels, creating new storylines and understandings. I'll be delivering it this Saturday and it'll actually be my first time in Yonkers hehe. I'm excited 'cuz it'll be like a Quest, bringing my prized possession to its rightful throne hehe. I'm so anxious, building this out, but it will all be worth it. I will make it through. I plan on attending the opening reception on 2/12, Thursday. I can be so self-conscious & shy at gatherings, nursing my wine, but I want to make an effort to talk more. This is an absolute DREAM exhibit. Writing and reading have saved my life, over and over and over again. My younger self, little one, would be so ecstatic. These artists could be writers as well, or at least admire the written word. And I always regret not asking the creators about their works, especially if I admire them. I want to focus less on myself and more on other people. It'll be a great night, I just need to trust myself more. #rolodex #thrifted #interactiveart #art

I’ll admit it, I was initially against going to the Philippines. I actually wanted to work lol. And the thought of not celebrating our 3rd anniversary, x-mas, AND New Year’s with my boyfriend Eddie felt terrible. Especially four weeks away from his arms. My baby siblings going convinced me to be in that airplane. I arrived this past Thursday. All my fears were needless as everything worked out: enough meds for my vacation, all FOUR weeks are paid time off, 2017 iPad (which I’m working this caption on) works along with wireless keyboard, all bills set to autopay, travel to airport, check-in, customs & flights went well, the holidays fall on Thursdays and the law firm is closed on those Fridays. Everything fell into place and has continued to do so. (…damn) My dismay at feeling coerced into going turned into glee as I realized I could treat it as an artist residency. And my dearly talented friend Marie who designed these wonderful Four You postcards said it was a PAID artist residency! Which left me gobsmacked and she’s RIGHT! @thats.ki an amazing zinester, asked me what my idea of an artist residency is and I feel that justifies a grid post. A reminder when I forget how much of a blessing and a privilege it is to travel: Every location far from home gets loosely connected abandoned books, zines, and a cigar box of ephemera, objects, and such @abandonedb2dbc . The theme of this set is “My imperfections. The Fool” which are verso and recto last lines of the nearest book to me: Please love me at my worst by Michaela Angemeer. This was brought  about through my latest zine “What Comes Next”, my divination dice ritual, when I asked the green abundance die “What books should I read for abandoning in the Philippines?” Those lines reminded me of Alexandra Kleeman’s “You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine” where the protagonist longs to have the impossible body depicted on TV and the other main characters struggle with their own body issues. And Anelise Chen’s “So Many Olympic Exertions” where the protagonist researches athletes dedicated to extremes—sacrificing their health, youth, relationships, and even sanity to win. I wanna commit marginalia, doodles, stickers, surprise

Eileen Ramos, guest contributor of Hide-and-Seek in New York, presents The Card Catalog of Potential, a living archive housed in a vintage wooden library cabinet, where four drawers quietly invite acts of exposure, imagination, and connection. Over the course of the opening, the archive steadily expanded through visitors’ contributions: prompted to respond with fragments, images, and memories, each participant composed a small relic of vulnerability and care. #HideAndSeekExhibition #EileenRamos #CardCatalogOfPotential #LePetitVersailles #RelationalArt #ParticipatoryArt #EphemeralArchives #ArtAndIntimacy #CollectiveMemory #AnomalyAsValue #PublicPrivateBlur #MoreThanHumanArt #ArtAsCare
