Worth your Wylie 🥲 “I love crossings-out. I love the first decision being left. It’s the opposite of the computer: you can’t do crossings out on a computer - or at least I can’t. But in a painting or drawing, you can do it as much as you want, so let’s do it. The world generally thinks you shouldn’t cross out: let’s not have a mess, tidy it up. But it’s not a mess.” Rose Wylie: The Picture Comes First

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the Archiboo Awards 2025 in the “Best Written Content” category. Our words are beautifully written by the talented Emma Hutton, and we are thrilled she has been recognised for her creativity. We wanted our written content to be engaging, playful and easy to digest. We also wanted to speak to clients and normal people, not just the profession. Congratulations to all those shortlisted and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the awards ceremony in November. A link to the shortlist is in the comments. @archiboolive @wordsbyhutton

The Barbican Conservatory at night gives off end-of-the-world vibes. It’s as though humanity has succumbed to the bloodsuckers, mushroom-heads, or whatever fate holds for us. Only the plants and a hardy few survived. But fear not, you can enjoy a tin of G&T for just £8.50. We decided to ditch the tins and head to the Martini Bar. A wise plan. And did you see the Moon last night? Oof, what a good moon.

Advice for life and for brand strategy. Be weird, stay weird. Figure out what makes you not like everybody else and shout about it. 👀

I had great fun talking about all things brand strategy and storytelling with my long-time collaborator @andagencylondon on The Built Environment Marketing Show, hosted by the inimitable @ayoabbas . As Mariah Carey once sang, ‘Sweet, sweet strategy baby.’ Even back in 1995, she knew the importance of strategy and storytelling when creating a distinctive brand with something to say. We could all learn something from Mariah. Tune in and listen to Nina being smart and me saying ‘foundational’ a lot. Seriously though, we talk about how a good strategy is foundational - it’s where a strong brand starts, and it informs everything. It’s the who you are, what you stand for, what you have to say and who you want to say it to. It’s where you figure out what makes you, well, you. And it guides how you look and sound and adds up to how you make people feel. So make it meaningful, make it memorable, make it you. Link in biiiiioooooooo.
