Curtis Sliwa expected Gen Z to be the most sympathetic generation when it came to the Hantavirus outbreak. Instead, many had one strong opinion: KEEP THEM QUARANTINED ON THE SHIP.
After living through Covid during some of the most important years of their lives, has this generation become far less willing to take chances with contagious outbreaks? The reaction surprised him⌠but maybe it shouldnât have.
Larry Mendte says itâs time to step back and look at the bigger picture surrounding the third attempt on President Trumpâs lifeâand that Democrats, in particular, need to take an even closer look.
iHeartMediaâs 710 WOR announced that Curtis Sliwa will join the weekday lineup alongside Larry Mendte for a new morning show, Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning, launching Monday, March 9, 2026.
Airing weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., the show will blend veteran journalism with Sliwaâs street-level New York perspective for the Tri-State areaâs morning commute. Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels and a longtime talk radio fixture, reunites with WOR following decades in New York media, while Mendte brings his award-winning television news background to mornings.
âItâs been four months since the end of the New York City Mayoral election and most places I go people have asked me to come back to talk radio, so thatâs what Iâm going to do,â said Curtis Sliwa. âIâm going to the best radio station in New York City, joining my friends of 30 years Mark Simone and Sean Hannity. Itâs a full circle moment for me as my first radio station appearance for me was in 1971 when WORâs Arlene Francis interviewed me as a kid, and Iâve been talking on the radio since.â
The new morning show pairs Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels and a legendary fixture for over 35 years in New York talk radio, with 97-time Emmy award-winner Mendte, a major market TV anchorman for decades who joined WORâs on-air team in 2023. âI couldnât be more excited,â said Larry Mendte. âCurtis is not only a legendary talk radio host, but an iconic New Yorker. What an honor to get to team up with him to get New Yorkers started every weekday.â
âCurtis is a true New York original. His passion and knowledge of the city, combined with Larryâs incredible journalistic background, make them the ideal team to wake up New York,â said Tom Cuddy, Program Director for WOR. âWe are thrilled to have this powerhouse duo leading the morning charge for WOR.â
Gracie Award winner and 29-year WOR veteran Natalie Vacca will serve as Executive Producer for the new show.

AI is already changing the workplace, but how hard is it going to hit Gen Z just as theyâre starting their careers?
Larry Mendte thinks history tells us things will eventually level out. Every wave of innovation creates fear at first, but new opportunities always follow.
Curtis Sliwa sees it differently. Looking at Gen Z, he believes they could be facing a much tougher road ahead than previous generations as AI replaces entry-level jobs and changes the way companies hire.
So whoâs right?
Is AI just another technological shift people will adapt to⌠or is this one different?
What do YOU think Gen Zâs workplace future looks like?
The New York Police Department is warning residents about a reemerging jewelry scam targeting seniors across New York City.
The scam involves individuals, often driving vehicles with out-of-state plates, approaching unsuspecting victims under the guise of needing directions or assistance. In a friendly manner, the scammers offer a piece of jewelry as a token of gratitude, using this opportunity to swap the victim's jewelry with fake items.
The NYPD reports that this scam has resulted in 11 incidents in Brooklyn and Queens, with losses totaling over $900,000.
According to CBS News New York, the scam is particularly effective because of the friendly demeanor of the perpetrators, leaving victims unaware of the theft until much later.
Police have arrested three individuals of Romanian descent in connection with the scam but caution that other groups may also be involved in similar activities. The NYPD urges residents to remain vigilant, especially seniors, who are often the primary targets of these scams.
Authorities recommend that New Yorkers be cautious when approached by strangers offering gifts or compliments about their jewelry. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.

Larry Mendte says HOW DARE Mayor Zohran Mamdani claim this budget âwonât charge the middle class.â
A $124.7 BILLION budget packed with hidden fee hikes is still taking money straight out of New Yorkersâ pockets. Ambulance fees, more tickets, higher enforcement costs, new fines â itâs all the same thing: middle-class families paying more while City Hall calls it âsavings.â
Larry says New Yorkers are tired of the word games. If your bills go up, your fees go up, and your everyday costs go up⌠YOU are paying for it.
Curtis Sliwa says the CIA doesnât stand for Central Intelligence Agency anymoreâŚit stands for âCriminals In Action.â
After explosive testimony from CIA whistleblower James Erdman alleging intelligence officials buried evidence tied to the COVID lab leak theory and claiming Dr. Anthony Fauci influenced the narrative.
Curtis is asking the question millions of Americans are now asking: Who was really protecting the truthâŚand who was protecting themselves?
FIFTEEN YEARS AGO, Larry Mendte shared a powerful message about the importance of getting a colonoscopy.
Now, years later, heâs going back for another screening â and reminding everyone that this message is just as important today as it was then.
Early detection saves lives. A simple screening can make all the difference.
If youâve been putting it off, maybe this is your sign to schedule it.
