hey! I started a blog called JUDAISM & DEGROWTH where I’m gonna post short pieces of writing about jewish ethics, land justice, climate change, & decolonization. I’m trying to think through these issues seriously and I think doing so in a public forum will be helpful for me. feel free to subscribe at da link in my bio if you’re interested! xoxo
Join us Thursday May 14th 6-7:30pm for a Rainbow Day service! A holiday cultivated in the Jewish Renewal movement, Rainbow Day (יוֹם הַקֶּֽשֶׁת) is observed on 27 Iyyar - the 42nd Day of the Omer - commemorating the end of the flood marked by Hashem’s covenant with Noah: never to destroy the world. Originally a protest holiday against nuclear proliferation, in more recent years this day has become one of re-dedicating ourselves to fighting Carbon Pharaohs and fossil fuel capitalism; a time to reflect on the miracle that is Earth and on our role as partners and stewards of co/re-creation.
Seph Mozes & Eli Newell will lead a 60-75 min ritual on the lake, including a late afternoon mincha, some text study, environmental teaching, and calls to action.
DM Eli or Seph for details on location, logistics, etc! We hope to see you there. 🌈
