The Story of Wool Pots đ
We are often asked how we came up with the idea for Wool Pots hopefully this video will help explain. We are trying to solve two problems - excessive plastic in horticulture and a need to use unloved wool to help farmers.
Weâre very proud of our pots and hope you enjoy the video - complete with doggy mayhem!
Thanks for supporting us â„ïž

We know so many gardeners are trying to cut down on plastic and stop adding to those piles of plastic plant pots hiding in sheds or under potting benches
Weâre here to help you with your sheds of shame, Wool Pots are zero-waste, made to break down once planted in the soil. No plastic, no waste, just better growing đ±

Wool Pots vs Plastic Pots đ
This was a very exciting growing trial we ran with Head Gardener Lucy at @fulhampalace
We potted up tomato seedlings in Wool Pots and plastic pots, even though we knew Wool Pots would come out on top, the results are really outstanding!
500 million plastic plant pots end up in landfill in the UK alone every year. Wool Pots are here to challenge that, not only are they zero-waste but they improve plant growth too and here are some reasons why -
đ± Plants thrive in the natural qualities of wool
đ± Better airflow to the roots, promoting stronger plant growth
đ± Wool Pots hold water longer, slow releasing to plants to keep them more hydrated
đ± No root transplant shock when planting out
đ± Wool Pots naturally deter slugs and snails

I get textile waste donations from my followers and I record every unboxing as it comes in.
I genuinely thought this parcel was one of them.
Just look at my face when I realised it wasnât what I expected⊠it was Wool Pots from @woolpots.uk
It feels like a perfect match with my plantable letters. Soon Iâll be offering kits that include a letter, soil, and a pot.
If you havenât seen it yet, Iâve made a new account just for the letters: @plantableletters

Favourite things about Wool Pots đ
One of our favourite questions to ask our wonderful guests on âDigging In With Wool Potsâ is what they love most about Wool Pots
Throwing it back to a slightly greyer day with the lovely @helenlikesplants here are her favourite things about Wool Pots -
đ They improve soil conditions when they break down improve plant health
đ They help naturally deter slugs
To get a little bit scientific - wool is rich in nitrogen and other essential trace elements so when Wool Pots decompose, they release these nutrients slowly over time which provides a sustained food source for plants
And the reason those pesky slugs donât like Wool Pots is because they donât like the feel of the coarse texture and it also absorbs their slime which funnily enough they donât like either!

Wool Pots vs Plastic Pots đ
Gardening pro David Blythe @david_gardening ran his own Wool Pots vs Plastic Pots trial growing Brussel sprouts and broccoli and safe to say there was a clear winnerâŠ!
We love when our community run their own trials, we know how brilliant Wool Pots are, but you donât just have to take our word for it đ

Our founding members đ
Spring time is our favourite time of year because itâs lambing season!
Sheep may get themselves in precarious situations, stuck in fences, stuck in water troughs, stuck on their backs, stuck just about anywhereâŠbut they produce remarkable fibres each year and for that we are grateful.
Thank you @traditional.garden.growers for letting us meet your gorgeous lambs đ
