We needed a dyed photo for the catalog of the double knit sock blanks. I’ve been wanting to do a naturally dyed striped one for ages 😂. The colours were murasaki root (purple) madder (brick red) and weld I grew (yellow) and then finally dipped in indigo to pull the colours together. Super fun afternoon of messing about 🤣.

This has been a super fun year for me, I’ve made a massive effort to grow my own natural dyes this year, and planted a nice big bed of Indigo Persicaria Tinctoria. I am a fermenter at heart and wanted to see if I could ferment the leaves down into a paste to make sure I didn’t waste any pigment in my leaves. It worked but it does have its disadvantages as in the smell 😂. But it’s working and producing some lovely blues on our cellulose fibres. My favourite is the vegan blend #1. Is anyone else growing indigo this year?

Brand new! This yarn is a brushed Suri alpaca DK with a silk core. It’s wonderfully snuggly like super soft kittens or alpacas 🤷♀️
90% Baby Suri Alpaca, 10% silk
246yds per 100g.
The yarn takes the dye well and speckles spread softly.
I made two swatches with size 7 & 8 needles on size 7 the fabric is lovely and holds its shape, on 8 the drape is super nice. Something to play with! This is a great yarn for those who can’t tolerate mohair.
Gauge on 7 is 16sts and 28 rows over 4”
Gauge on 8 is 14/15 sts and 22 rows over 4”.
WPI is 20 and would work as a lovely weft.

This yarn is a dreamy fluffy lace, a superb alternative to mohair lace. It makes super light fabrics. It takes the dye well and speckles softly.
I used a US8 and gauge was 16 sts & 26 rows for 4” swipe to see the swatch.
I also stranded it with Tibetan 3ply on US8 and got 16sts & 28 rows.

One of our recent additions. This yarn is absolutely dreamy. It’s in my top ten for sure.
Composition is 65% super baby alpaca & 35% extra fine 17.5 micron merino. 328yds per 100g.
It really feels like luxury. It’s got almost a cashmere handle with a velvety soft texture. The twist really makes this yarn it helps it keep its structure in knitting really well.
I used US 2.5 for this swatch, and got 26sts and 46 rows over 4”.
WPI is 20/21
Would work as a warp or weft.

Sister to Silky Boucle this is the brushed version of that yarn. It has a very soft muted fluff, and knits up almost like a chenille, a perfect fluff yarn for summer as the silk keeps things cool. This yarn dyes nicely, speckles merge softly into the texture.
70% mulberry silk, 30% fine merino, 219yds per 50g skein
Gauge on US6 is 19 sts and 28 rows. You could play around with the needle size for this yarn.

Works nicely as a textured weft.

I’m working my way through our yarns (big task 😂) to add more dyeing information, uses etc for each on the website. I started with the newer bases since they are here in my studio. First up is the silk boucle, it’s exquisite. My preference is to strand it with Suri Silk cloud. For the swatch I used US 7.
