Hey y’all 👋🏼 Enjoying these warm, spring days? You earned them! I’m feeling awfully good about the next G.A.S.! installment. It’ll feature some of my favorite folks-Maggie Carson, Tree Palmedo, and Jeremy James Meyer! It’ll be a wonderful evening. Mark it down and come to @dadabarnyc on 5/14 🎷🐛
in preproduction for a new record. Debuting a couple of the tunes, including this one “last flamingo” on monday for @carmine__francis EP release at @sleepwalk.nyc
My shows, much like my plantar fasciitis, tend to come in waves. I’ve got a hot streak coming up starting on Monday at Cassette with The Slide Stops. Some are with my WVE band, some with The Alternate Sides (Country Ensemble), and one I’m a lowly curator (G.A.S.!). All of them should be something special though. How’s my handwriting?
Big shoutout to one of the most talented people I know, @kylenetzeband . Over the years Kyle has created art for many of my projects, they’ve all had his unique style and inventive approach. I recently told him about The Alternate Sides and he whipped up this rad piece. Slide 2 was inspired by me performing in front of a fish case. Slide 3 is the first sticker Kyle made for me in 2010. I think they’re out of production.
🚨“new” band alert 🚨 here to announce the debut of Wolf van Elfmand & The Alternate Sides!!! Over the next few months I’ve got a couple of shows with this band featuring @roadblockguitar , @fitzpatrick.henry , @juantonioromero & @gabe_lee . With The Alternate Sides we’ll do more of my country music as well as some of my favorite covers a la Americana. We’re kicking things off this Wednesday at the @jalopy.tavern . See y’all out there
Coming in hot. Next show in the city is May 16 at @bakerfalls . Doing a duo set with Adelyn Strei. We’re opening it up for the Christian Rutledge album release, with the wonderful Hayley Rose Harrington completing the bill 🦆 mark it down 📝
That’s a G.A.S.! I’ve decided to press pause on this series for now, tbd on what the future may hold. While I have many thoughts on the topic of hosting and curating events, the main emotion I’d like to express here is gratitude. Thank you to The Jalopy Theatre and everyone who came out to support our show this past year. And, thank you to this incredible list of artists who shared their music in front of those velvety curtains; Karl Blau, more eaze, Claire Ozmun. Eliza Edens, NTHNL, Blue Cactus, Dida Pelled, Hamilton Belk, Iceblink, Wendy Eisenberg, Jana Horn, Josh Halper. h. pruz, Kenny Warren, Warmly Chrissy, Sam Weinberg, and Adelyn Strei. I always forgot to tell them not to wear red. Hope you all have nice end of the year, take care of yourselves and each other
Before the AI Beatles came onto the scene, I had already cut my “Now & Then.” @hownowkarlblau captured it all on a Tascam 8-track and is featured on harmonies and melodica. He was a true comrade in giving this song life. It’s a homey tune, recorded one brisk January afternoon in Philadelphia. I took the cover photo during the session; you can hear that fire crackle during the intro. The song is a simple yearning for some good fortune, a desire for what some have and others do not. It’s out now, enjoy
