Flos Machina - Resonance in Bloom
Earlier this year, I developed the prototype of an interactive flower together with
@katiipe as part of an ongoing collaborative concept exploring interaction, attention, and resonance.
For the final presentation of
@anamirbast “Creative Robotics” Masterclass, I extended the prototype with a custom mount for a KUKA robotic arm, brought in and supported by Nils Weger and Prof. Olaf Hirschberg from
@hsm.zbm Using VL.Bunraku, we linked the robotic movements with the flower’s behavior:
When a face enters its field of view, it pauses, opens, and begins a soft, hypnotic light choreography. When the person turns away, it closes and continues its search.
The object combines 3D-printed PETG parts, articulated LED panels, and a centrally placed camera for face detection. Everything wirelessly controlled with
@madewithvvvv
Many thanks to
@thenodeinstitute for hosting the final presentation in Berlin.
