A mix I recently made in Leiden at Maxi Radio is now listenable on SoundCloud. Besides some sloppy transitions I’m really happy with the recording; it sums up pretty well what kind of music I love playing lately. I’ll be running the first pilot for my new show: ‘On A Quest’. it’ll be about knitting music together without being limited to bpm ranges, genre’s or whatsoever. It’ll be mainly about exploring music with only using geographical reference. I’ll explain more about this concept in the near future.

Even whilst resorting mostly in jungle-rich, wolf-friendly areas, I managed to touch a DJ set last month! Super fun to play on an Island like Gili Air where the crowd is mostly locals (1000 inhabitants total). I was amazed by their taste and knowledge of music, heard a lot of fairly unknown club music there. Also went to @mihnclub in HK, where I got inspired by the likes of @oliviaxiaolin and @sunsiare_ , who def know how to play a dark and smokey room. Looking forward to the coming period where I hopefully will be able to share a lot of new sounds :)

So many astonishing places, so much beautiful people and so many brilliant moments. From skiing to skydiving, from surfing to snorkling, from swimming to hiking to driving a lot of different kind of motors.. The last few months have been truly amazing. 🇧🇪🇪🇸🇫🇷🇻🇳🇵🇭 Some moments in no particular order; Alsooo . More music is releasing this year and I’ve decided to start playing / promoting more. Had a fantastic time in Groningen, where I played @relate.radio and had the chance to craft a dynamic set. I blended a variety of musical styles, balancing more uniquely selected tracks with more known favorites. Along the way, I also highlighted some exciting new projects that people have been working on. Some snippets from last ‘On A Quest’. We caught ourselves playing more clubbish tunes after an hour or so, but it was still a pretty fun experiment to do. Bonus: see last slide for some sleight of hand SL1200 touching.🌚 The set can be listened to using the link in bio. Next location I’ll be going On A Quest to will be Londen, so expect some distinctive rhythms in the appearance of breakbeats, where the UK has played a pivotal role in (the evolution of..). Can you already guess the next invitee?

Tomorrow I’ll be playing some music in the green container together with @matra.0000 . Tune in at around 20:00 for some Quest / Journey music. The ‘quest’ starts in the Middle East this time, which is a timely theme and feels nothing short of logical, so expect some ‘desert beats’. And since I started posting again about my new show at OSR called ‘On A Quest’: where this was more experimental, I also recently took the time to play and record a proper club set with music I’ve been really digging last months. Expect a lot of breaks, weird sounds, resonating vocals and experimental grooves. I played +20 tracks in an hour to keep the groove going and really enjoyed playing at some higher energy than usual. Dear followers, It has been long overdue, but recently, I have been working on a new show concept at OSR called ‘On A Quest’. The purpose of this show is to experiment with genre-fluid sets and a different style of track selection than usual. In this endeavor, common known ‘frames’ such as predefined BPM ranges, genres, and energy levels are to be put more in the background. The focus should shift towards mood/vibes, artists/labels, and cultural/regional influences. The essence lies in going ‘On A Quest’, where the only predefined frame should be a topographical starting location, such as in the second pilot show I did with @an_ton.a as a guest. For this pilot show, we chose a place close to our hearts: Amsterdam. In this B2B concept, DJs will have to freestyle fit tracks and play them one-on-one, exposing themselves by sharing how they connect a track to a specific theme, such as Amsterdam in this case. I encountered challenges on this creative journey, such as the difficulty in avoiding the urge to fall back on safe track selections and turning it into a typical club set. Additionally, transitioning to a more radio show format presented obstacles such as using the microphone effectively (including proper utilization of the talk-over button, which, as you may have noticed, didn’t work flawlessly every time). I am excited about refining this concept in the upcoming period and inviting more interesting people to go ‘On A Quest’ with. Stay tuned for new dates to be announced shortly! Had a really amazing week, with as cherry on the cake being able to spontaneously play and close the 2nd stage @park.kronenburg during the #vierdaagse. Was really awesome to see a lot of friends and familiar faces show up so quickly, and especially the impromptu B2B w/ @naimabu_ which prolonged the original set with 1,5h.
