The future is bright. 🌟 Last night, WMCAT Fashion Design Studio students brought fantasy, texture, and visual storytelling to the stage inspired by works in GRAM’s Collection. From the stunning designs to the music produced by WMCAT Music Production students, the entire evening was a testament to what young artists can do when they’re given support and a runway. 🙌 We’re proud to partner with @wmcatgr on this incredible program!

The Right Place team recently gathered for our all-staff retreat centered on one of our core values: being courageous leaders. Courageous leadership is not a single moment; it is a mindset. It calls us to think boldly, act with intention, and lead with clarity in service to our region. Throughout the retreat, we reflected on what it means to lead with courage in our daily work and how we can continue to embody that value across our organization and communities. Thank you to Rockford and Grand Action 2.0 for taking us on a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Amway Soccer Stadium! It served as a powerful reminder of the courageous leadership, vision, and determination it takes in shaping the future of our region. We are also grateful to West Michigan Center for Arts + Technology - WMCAT for hosting us and for their continued impact in the community! Moments like these reinforce who we are, what we stand for, and the impact we strive to make, together.

WMCAT IS LIVE ON AIR! 📻✨ This semester, teen artists in the Music Production Studio curated an hour-long radio program for local radio station, 88.1 @wyceradio , which will be airing this Saturday at 2 pm. The program will feature selections from WYCE’s expansive music library, along with tracks created by teen artists with sounds collected from our Fashion Studio, that will be featured at our annual Fashion Show next week! Thank you to the wonderful team at WYCE and Phil Tower for being such greats hosts and mentors to our students as they learn the ways of radio! And be sure to tune in 88.1 TOMORROW!

This spring at WMCAT, we took time to weave a space of wellness for our teen artists. 😌✨🧶 WMCAT teens learned about the Japanese art of kumihimo (“gathered threads”) to practice community building and personal wellness. Led by WMCAT teaching artist John Cox, students wove colorful strands into bracelets as a tactile representation of connectedness — while engaging in a guided discussion with mental health provider Arbor Circle. This project was supported in part by Arts Midwest GIG Fund and the National Endowment for the Arts.

At WMCAT, we recognize that getting workforce-ready takes more than technical skills. Understanding yourself, your working styles, and career goals is just as valuable, which is why we incorporate Leadership by Design into our Adult Career Training pathways. 🌟 Leadership By Design is our personal and professional leadership development curriculum that supports WMCAT students in leveraging their lived experiences. Through alumni panels, guest speakers, DiSC evaluation, and cohort bonding, students are able to recognize the power of their stories, align values and experience to assets in the workplace, build social capital, and strengthen their emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills. Want to learn more about Leadership by Design and our Adult Career Training Program? 👀 Enrollment for our Adult Career Training Program is on the horizon, so stay tuned for more information, and visit the link in our bio to learn more!
