‼️Let’s talk about concave for a second‼️
One of the biggest misconceptions in the automotive world is wheel concavity. We get a lot of customers asking for a “massive” amount of concave, but the reality is concave cannot be achieved the same way on every make and model.
Concave is determined by measurements and fitment data such as wheel width, offset, and brake clearance. In simple terms, the wider the wheel and the lower the offset, meaning closer to zero, the more concave a wheel can typically be made.
On the other hand, if a vehicle runs narrower wheel widths with higher offsets, there is physically less room to create concavity while still maintaining proper spoke design and brake clearance.
A perfect example is the set shown here, our MB-S105’s for the new C8 Z06. This setup runs a 20x10 front and 21x13 rear with very low offsets, which allows for a huge amount of concave.
Now compare that to something like the Porsche 911 platform, especially the front wheels. Many of those cars run around a 9 wide front wheel with a 40 to 45 offset, along with very large front calipers. With that combination, there is simply not enough room to create heavy concavity while still keeping proper spoke and brake clearance.
Fitment data matters, and understanding that is how we build wheels that both look right and function properly.
