Oh and I forgot to mention. If you’re starting with no money, no inside connections, no education and not living in a large city, that makes it even more unrealistic.

Struggling with imposter syndrome. 1. Ask yourself why do you never have imposter syndrome for working jobs you don’t wanna do. 2. Don’t care so much about labels. If my mind told me I’m not an artist, I’d say I’m a painter and if someone said ur not a painter. I’d just say okay, I’m making stuff. The label doesn’t even matter. What matters is doing what makes you happy.

Here’s some common sense things to consider if you’re an artist and want to have a solo show at a gallery. 1 if you’re the direct source of the art and haven’t sold any in your entire life, how will a gallery sell it with only one month? 2 if a gallery shows landscape paintings and has built a reputation selling landscape paintings and you paint Pokémon, there’s no reason for them to think their followers would be interested in that. 3. If you sell your paintings for $100 and approach a gallery that’s paying 40k in rent a month.. how would they possible make money to pay their rent? 5. Galleries aren’t magic wish granting machines. If a gallery likes the art and the artist has built some demand and interest in their art, it’s much easier to show. If an artist has never sold and there’s no demand, and they make completely different work than eBay gallery normally shows then it’s a huge gamble and might be out 10s of thousands for the month.

You don’t need a lot of followers to turn your art into a career. As an artist with over 100k followers.. I make and sell 20-100 paintings a year. The 20-80 people that buy them don’t care if I have lots of followers. They just like the art

U want lots of followers, why? Many think they deserve followers cuz they are so cool, it’s not about you. It’s about providing something of value to people who are watching. Also followers and clients/customers are not the same thing. I’ll speak on how to get clients/customers in another reel.
