The day honors the memory of the many Indigenous children who died in residential and boarding schools and those who survived these traumatic institutions.
It raises awareness about the multi-generational impact of these schools on Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.
Orange Shirt Day also supports efforts in cultural education and language preservation to help communities heal and revitalize their cultures #OrangeShirtDay #orangeshirtday2025
