Infinite Maze 189 (2026) marks the fourth iteration of Wit’s Infinite Maze series. Installed at 189 Queen’s Road West in Sai Ying Pun, the work unfolds as a dynamic network of shifting panels and reconfiguring lines of light. The grid appears to breathe, constantly generating new pathways and possibilities. With multiple entry points and no fixed route, each visitor charts a unique journey through the maze. Every step influences the system, triggering changes, revealing temporary openings, and allowing the space to recalibrate in real time, turning navigation into a shared, time-based experience. A new addition to the work centres on a printer that generates a unique maze each time the system shifts. Operating continuously in real time, it produces an ongoing record of the installation’s duration—never static, always evolving. Each print reflects a moment shaped by visitor interaction, remaining in anticipation of the next participant to create their own maze.

Thank you @chubblifehk and @projct_co for choosing an image of maze installation ‘Life Chapters’, presented at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026, as the promotional cover wrap for the 50th anniversary of Chubb Life Hong Kong — featured on the April-May issue of Forbes Asia. Truly honored.

Shadow puppetry illuminated by burning coconut shells (Nang Yai Fai Kala). A once-a-year performance held during the Songkran Festival at Wat Khanon, Photharam District, Ratchaburi, Thailand. I’m deeply drawn to the light and shadow produced by burning coconut shells—the color temperature is beautiful, the light diffuses naturally and evenly, gentle on the eyes, never harsh or glaring. Effortlessly graceful and quietly majestic.

‘Life Chapters’ is a lounge by Chubb Life, presented as a Show Partner of Art Basel Hong Kong 2026. @chubblifehk and @projct_co saw that my labyrinth series aligns closely with the themes, philosophy, and ideas they wanted to communicate, and invited me to collaborate on the design and presentation of the Partner Lounge. It was an extremely challenging project due to strict installation constraints: only two days to install before opening; no structure could be fixed or suspended from the ceiling; everything had to be fully self-supporting and no taller than 3.5 meters. The final structure also needed to cover 80 square meters, integrating the maze’s mechanical system into a single, seamless form—appearing simple, as if no mechanism existed, while concealing all complexity as much as possible. To achieve this, we had to build a full-scale prototype three weeks in advance, carefully planning for transport, modular assembly, and reinstallation within the two-day window. Despite all these challenges, there was no room to hesitate. The location was exceptional—on the left, the official Art Basel shop; on the right, the Louis Vuitton Partner Lounge; and directly opposite, the main entrance. At first, hearing about it didn’t feel like much. But standing there in person, seeing the actual site, was nerve-racking. As the work gradually took shape and reached a point where I felt confident it could stand among its surroundings, I felt both relief and quiet satisfaction. This project was intense and demanding, but also deeply enjoyable. My thanks to the Thai team, to Projct, and to the Chubb Life commissioning team. Working together on this has been an unforgettable experience. 📸: Chubb Life HK

An Open Call for Performers!! Octave Maze Live 2026 is now open for applications. We invite musicians, DJs, artists, performers, and programmers to present live performances at Asvin Cultural and Contemporary Art Space. This program aims to explore and experiment with the relationships between light, sound, technology, memory, and physical space through live performance in dialogue with the kinetic installation Octave Maze (2026 edition). For 2026, the Octave Maze system has been expanded from 8 to 256 controllable positions, supporting both MIDI and DMX communication. The system can also be controlled independently from sound input, allowing artists to choreograph the maze in direct relation to performance— opening up greater creative possibilities. From Wit Pimkanchanapong’s #InfiniteMaze, first introduced in “Planetary Seed” at 100 Tonson Foundation, the work has continued to grow and transform—expanding into #OctaveMaze, where sound and musical elements shape the experience, and #BaanBardo, a large-scale outdoor pavilion for cultural exploration at @wonderfruit . Each version unfolds differently, responding to its environment and context. This week at @artbasel #ArtBaselHongKong, @witpimkan presents the latest chapter of this evolving practice: “LifeChapters”, an immersive, site-specific installation presented by @chubblifehk . At the Chubb Life Lounge within the fair, the installation invites visitors to step into an ever-shifting maze of possibility. As you navigate through the maze-like environment, subtle cues—objects, sounds, and phrases—act as portals for reflection, prompting consideration of life’s unpredictable paths. There are no fixed routes; the journey is shaped by your own decisions. Shifting walls, semi-transparent surfaces, and changing sightlines heighten an awareness of others moving alongside you. Every moment can redefine a life.
