What does real progress on hepatitis C look like? This #EuroTestWeek, we're proud to share that in partnership with the Hep C Providers Forum, more than half of our combined support services have micro-eliminated hepatitis C. But we aren’t stopping now. If you know or support someone who might be at risk of #hepC, one simple test could save their life. We’re proud to be part of a global movement to eliminate hepatitis C. Whether you’ve had a test yourself, encouraged someone else to, or are in the clinical teams doing the tests, you’re a #HepCTestHero to us. 💙 #HepCULater #TestTreatPrevent

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we’re celebrating the people who help make wellbeing a priority across our services. 💙 Meet Gemma and Ricky, two of our dedicated Mental Health First Aiders at @withyoucornwall . They’re part of a network of colleagues who help create a supportive space where people feel able to talk, check in, and look after their mental health. We’re proud to take action by investing in Mental Health First Aid training with @mhfaengland , helping our teams feel better equipped to start conversations, and support one another when it matters most. Want to read more about Gemma and Ricky's stories? Check the link in our bio.

When life feels overwhelming, taking action doesn’t mean doing it all at once. For those on their recovery journey, small steps can often make the biggest difference. Take a deep breath. Step outside for a short walk. Reach out, whenever you need us. Not sure where to start? You can chat to a trained recovery worker for free, confidential advice and support. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we’re exploring what it really means to take action, and the truth is, it doesn’t have to be big. It can start with a question. A check-in. A real conversation. If you, or someone you care about is struggling with drugs, alcohol or mental health - you don’t have to face it alone. This week, take action in your own way. Check in with yourself, and carry kindness and compassion for both yourself and those around you. Remember: Asking for help is taking action. 💙

WithYou in Scotland are finalists for Scottish Charity of the Year at the @scvoscot , Scottish Charity Awards and we couldn’t be prouder!🏆 Last year, our teams across Scotland were there for 14,000 people facing challenges around drugs or alcohol. 63,000+ appointments. 21% more referrals. And a webchat open 364 days a year. But numbers only tell part of the story. "Without WithYou and others, I wouldn't be sitting here. I would be dead. My kids wouldn't have a dad if it wasn't for the support I received," said a dad from Dundee. This nomination belongs to every colleague and volunteer who shows up every day, and every person who takes that brave step to get support. 💙 Tap the link in our bio to read more about what this nomination means to our staff and clients.

In drug and alcohol services, the work of clinical teams and nurses often goes unseen. This #InternationalNursesDay, we're changing that. Meet Eileen, Dani and Julie from our Stoke-on-Trent CDAS team, just a few of the incredible nurses working together to support people on their recovery journey. Dani's path into nursing was personal. Her grandfather was dependent on alcohol and, after being hospitalised, the care he received left a lasting impression. It shaped the standard she holds herself to and the principle she carries into every interaction: "We treat people how we would want our families to be treated." Ariella Williams, Director of Nursing and Safeguarding at WithYou, says: "This year’s International Nurses Day reminds us of the vital role nursing plays in strengthening compassionate, inclusive, and sustainable health and care systems. You are central to our mission and to ensuring that people with the greatest needs receive safe, high-quality, person-centred care." Today, we say thank you to every nurse in the drug and alcohol sector and beyond who works to change lives every day.

Latest data from ONS shows that 9,809 people died from alcohol-specific causes in the UK in 2024. While this is the lowest number since 2021, every preventable death is one too many. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community affected by loss. More than 75% of people experiencing alcohol dependency still cannot get the support they need. At the same time, services remain underfunded, and parts of the UK have been without a national alcohol strategy for over a decade. Progress is possible, but it requires sustained investment, evidence-based policy, and tackling the root causes of alcohol harm, such as isolation, poverty, and poor mental health. We owe it to those we have lost, and to those suffering today, to make sure preventable deaths keep falling. 📍Check the link in our bio to read our full statement from Simon Phillips, CEO of WithYou.

Words carry weight. The language we use around drugs and alcohol can either open doors, or close them. Calling someone an "addict" or a "junkie" doesn't just offend. It can stop them from ever asking for help. Nobody should feel too ashamed to reach out. Swipe to see how small changes can make a real difference. 👉 Save this. Share it. Let's make it easier for people to ask for help. 💬

For many veterans, the battle doesn’t end after service. Life after the military can feel disorienting — and stripped of structure, identity and purpose. Many veterans who identify as a marginalised gender have experienced: • gender-based violence • gender-based discrimination • gender-based trauma Women veterans who have experienced trauma are also more likely to use drugs and alcohol after leaving the military. The Rebuild project is a women-centred pilot supporting female veterans who are navigating substance use while carrying the impact of unaddressed trauma from their time in the armed forces. Could Rebuild help you? Reach out to the Withyou team for more information. @withyou #covenantfund #fulfillingfutures #femaleveterans #rebuildproject

In 2014, James walked through our doors as a client. In 2022, he became the Community Engagement Coordinator and Recovery Worker for WithYou in the Borders. Now, on 17 May, he's taking on a skydive to raise money and awareness for the work we do every day. "For me, recovery started with fear. Jumping into the unknown guilt and shame of both my cocaine addiction and my ADHD. With the right support and equipment, I was able to survive and then thrive." he says. James’s advice to anyone struggling with drugs or alcohol is simple and heartfelt: "Reach out, talk to someone and, importantly, believe in yourself. Your mind is like a parachute. It works best when it's open." 🎯 Want to learn more about James’s story and help him reach his fundraising target? Check the link in our bio.
