Orthodox Pascha unfolding through a sequence of rituals- icons veiled in black, the Epitaph procession of mourning. Candlelit liturgies culminating at midnight with the Holy Light emerging from the church, passed from candle to candle among the congregation. The light marks soot crosses above thresholds & is carried outward to ignite Lambrajies, the symbolic burning of Judas. The Resurrection is culminates in fireworks & collective celebration.
Carnival (noun) A collective festival rooted in ancient ritual & seasonal renewal, traditionally marked by masquerade, excess, & the temporary suspension of social norms. Historically associated with fertility, abundance, & communal release, & in contemporary use referring more broadly to immersive, sensory gatherings or atmospheres where identities loosen, hierarchy dissolves, & play, spectacle, & transformation prevail.
Valentine (noun) A chosen recipient of affection- one who is held in tenderness, desire, or quiet devotion. Often linked to romantic love, a valentine may be a lover, a muse, or a cherished presence, honored through gestures of intimacy. Traditionally, valentines are said to be brought together by Cupid, the winged matchmaker whose arrows spark attraction and unexpected connections.
