On the frozen Ishim River in Astana, fishermen drill through ice in temperatures reaching −40°C. Shelters made from discarded plastic sacks and market packaging.
Improvised protection against the cold. Resourcefulness shaped by necessity. A centuries-old practice continuing at the edge of a modern skyline.

A tombstone placed vertically in the right transept, between the former chapel of St. Thomas of Villanova and the rear entrance of the church. A knight in Renaissance dress, his face and every identifying mark meticulously removed.
For a serious crime against the Church, a sentence of damnatio memoriae — memory erased forever, name and likeness struck from record.
