Shooting unit stills for television is all about speed. You get a few seconds to capture some key images in between takes, usually with a immense amount of pressure from a over stressed AD breathing down your neck or the cast of the show getting hair , makeup, wardrobe corrections, notes from the director or checking their email, texts or Instagram. Litterally seconds and you have to be ready and you have to take what you can get.
For that reason, I really think that the quality of work Iāve put forth over the last few years, as Iāve earned my place on set, has really been lacking something so import in a photographerās work, himself⦠Myself. My perspective, my influence. My coaching , my direction. My lighting. Something that was so heavy in my work for the first 16 years. There was simply just not enough time to cover my shot list and somehow make these images my own ⦠while learning the ropes.
This show, Itās Compliplated on
@foodnetwork was the first time I really felt I gained some of that back. All thanks to one very special person
@iamtabithabrown .
Coming from a different style of growth, self made, Tabitha was so kind and approachable. Always greeting me with a hello, a warming smile and a compliment and was so willing to take a second and let me try some ideas, all over the set , over the 6 day shoot. Soon those few seconds started to feel like minutes. A fluidity and flow that I wish every show had, bloomed. Here is some of the evidence .
Also I canāt thank
@maneetchauhan enough , a friend Iāve done 4 or 5 shows with now, because she really makes you feel at home and really helped set the tone. šš¼
