CommUNITY, meet the co-founder of Debriefing the Front Lines, Nik @within_reason_repairs For those that don't know, Nik is my husband. Don't let anyone tell you you can't find love at a bar in Key West, FL. 🤎 I have admired and respected the nursing profession from a young age as my mother is a nurse with more than 3 decades of experience. In 2003, after graduating high school, I joined the Air Force as an aircraft electrician working on C-130's. When my 6 year enlistment came to an end, I committed to pursuing my life long passion of music, returning back to school to study audio engineering and stringed instrument repair. My goal was to eventually make music a full time career. In the interim, I worked as a Nursing Simulation Technician at a local Baltimore hospital. At the time, Tara was working as Simulation Lab Director at the university - we had a lot of stories to share with one another! As my music career and guitar business grew, I left this role. 8 months later, in March of 2020, my audio engineering and gig work came to a halt. Although it was challenging to lose this creative outlet, I had the time and energy to work along side Tara as we together built Debriefing the Front Lines. My respect and knowledge of the profession helped me understand the importance of what Tara was creating. I recognized very early on that her time was best spent working with the nurses directly and because of this I took on the behind the scenes components - managing our scheduling platform, video conferencing system as well as the technical and financial aspects. I wanted Tara to focus her attention on nurses in need. It is a great honor to be in a position where I can provide support to nurses who continue to give everything of themselves to heal others. There is no greater gift in life, then to receive the time, attention, and care of a healer.
