I realised I never really announced this, so here are some scribbles about how you can vote for me for Drag Rising Star! If you nominated me a few weeks ago, thank you and I love you, I got shortlisted!!! Votes are now open (separate to the nominations - yes you have to do it again) I love our drag community and it's been an honour to be a part of it for the last three years πŸ’•βœ¨πŸ’•

Crude drawing of an angel, 2025, performance - textile, found object, body (altered - hair dye, testosterone), charcoal on paper, β€˜Crude Drawing of an Angel’ (Caroline Polachek, 2023) This is the second soft pink bed you encounter when you enter the convent, but this one has a mattress in it with a mirror at the centre - right under where the pelvis would lay. The performance is vulnerable, and I wanted this to be a stronghold, a safe place. The bed is shaped like a home. Zero is dressed in matching fabrics. She awakes slowly to Caroline Polachek's Crude Drawing of an Angel, and draws the audience in with her dance that tapers off in a slow strip. She steps over the mirror and picks up charcoal and paper. Art history is full of imagery of female bodies from an external perspective. In a traditional life drawing space, the model is not in control of their own image - it is always other people creating images of them. In drag, you get to be both the creator and the creation. Your body is an object of desire, and that object of desire is created and presented by you. In a life drawing twist, I wanted to create images of myself to give to you. Everyone who received a drawing from this piece I hope you treasure it and please send me more pics of them hanging up in your bedrooms/fridges/offices etc πŸ’• Super 8 footage by @amynaylorphoto

Tears (I understand. I’m sorry.), 2025, textile, wooden bed frames, thread, laser engraved acrylic I created this piece for the first edition of bodies no bodies back in October in response to the Convent site and as a sister piece to my performance installation (the second plush house in the background). I love the way the upturned house greeted visitors and framed the second bedframe across the room. Audience members are invited to hang a tear if they choose. At the end of the show, we had 112 tears hanging (the entire pile). Everyone that hung a tear - thank you, I love you, I understand, I'm sorry. The text is drawn from the @rahim_redcar 20 minute masterpiece that is OPERA - I UNDERSTAND (linked) This work was supported by the @melbfringe cash to create fund and the @abbotsfordconvent experimental fringe program.

Install documentation from bodies no bodies with Midsumma Presents at @smithandgertrudefitzroy I have been thinking a lot as a curator about the importance of taking care when you are entrusted with an artist's work, an artist's body, an artist's practice. These were all personal and intimate works, and I felt very honoured to be able to have a hand in sharing them with you all. A little excerpt from the catalogue - "During this time of year there is no shortage of Queer art exhibitions and Queer bodies on display. Our aesthetics are repackaged and marketed back at us. To quote Valentina Iancu as quoted in the front of this catalogue - β€œan aesthetics concerned with narrating the queer body should look after the point of view that refers to the subjectivity of a body often targeted by violence.” A few things stick out to me here. How can we create an aesthetics concerned with the subjectivity, over the objectivity, of queer bodies? In each of these works, the body is the main subject, yet representations of that body are noticeably absent. It is rare to have an art shoe where the body is solely presented rather than re-presented. The second thing that presents itself is that Iancu asks us to look after these points of view. How can we take care of our narratives? How can we take care of our bodies while using them in our narratives? It is my hope that in your encounter with these works you will not only look, but also look after." Can u believe bodies no bodies is officially DONE!! What a lovely second run it's been as part of Midsumma Presents, and I would like to thank a bunch of people who made it possible.... Rory and Kelli at @smithandgertrudefitzroy for being so welcoming, it was so lovely to be back 🧑 Lucky Cat Wines for donating two whole boxes to our gorgeous audience 🧑 Leon Murphy @alien_leon for amazing tech Thursday and Friday night 🧑 Amy Zuell @amyzuell for amazing tech Saturday night (last minute when Leon got food poisoning - legendary) 🧑 Beau Howell @babyangelfalling and David Payne for photography equipment loan 🧑 Matthew Major @matthewmajor15 for tech assistance including cable run 🧑 Joel Moffett @joel.moffet for literally going to the office on a Saturday to print us more catalogues 🧑 The team at Midsumma for their production support 🧑 The endlessly beautiful @shallyxia.dq for gallery sitting 🧑 The talented Anastasia Beasley for production expertise, and listening to me ramble about this for 6 months 🧑 And of course the whole artist team James, Foot, Thicky, Jennie, and Winter who all went above and beyond and put their heart and soul into this project. I can't wait to see what you all do next and I'm so excited that we got to be on this journey together for a little while. This was such a community effort and I'm so full of joy at the support and love this show has received. During this Pride season, I'm proud to have staged a show where 100% of ticket revenue goes directly to the Queer artists it showcases. If you came to the exhibition, bought an evening ticket, had your photo taken, made a donation, spread the word, listened to me blab about the show; thank you and I love you. 🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑🧑

James Bonk and Zero, the producer and curator of bodies no bodies, sat down with.. well.. themselves to chat about making silly art together for more than 20 years. That's right, nobody interviewed us (call us if you want to πŸ˜‰) but @alien_leon did take these gorgeous photos of us that were too good to waste. Yes, we met in kindy and yes, we put on amazing shows back then too (mainly for our mums). We've done so many projects together, including running many fun science art events under the name Snart Club! After costarring in James' Genghis Khan drag performance I caught the drag bug too, and it was James who gave me the idea for the name Zero. The best way to learn more.. come hang out with us at bodies no bodies!! One night sold out, two nights remaining πŸ‘€
