In Ukrainian folklore the silver stars in the sky are thought to be lit candles or the souls of the dead. If a large numbers of stars were seen in the night sky it was thought to be an omen perceived as prosperity, wealth, and good harvests. This included plentiful grain, fruit, livestock, berries, and mushrooms. Baltic Amber has associations with time, cycles, and longevity. As it was once a living substance, it’s related to spirit. Alleged to extend protection to the wearer, avert misfortune, keep its owner safe from black magic, guard one from the evil eye, bring luck in love, and even makes it’s owner stronger and cleverer. Warm to the touch and containing the very essence of life itself. People believed Baltic Amber “pulled out” diseases from the body and “attracted” good luck. Much in the same way it attracts dust when rubbed. The ancient Greeks noted this ability to generate static electricity and called Amber “elektron”. You will receive one pair of beautiful Copper Stars Baltic Amber Earrings with .925 silver studs #celestial #thewitchery #whimsigoth #balticamber

Celestial Gold Moon Baltic Amber Pendant Ancient Ukrainians revered the moon, often seeing it as a living being that was born, grew, and died. They spoke charms to the moon, seeking prosperity. “Moon, Moon, give me a full pocket of money.” People tried to transfer the constant renewal of the moon to themselves asking for beauty and youth. “Moon, you are a young prince, have you been in the other world? Have you seen the dead? Do their teeth hurt? No! Let my teeth not hurt!” Associated with time, cycles, and longevity. As Baltic Amber was once a living substance, it’s related to spirit. Worn to avert misfortune, for protection, and to keep one safe from black magic. They cast out devils, guarded against evil eye, brought luck in love, and made the owner stronger and cleverer. Warm to the touch and alleged to contain the very essence of life itself. People believed Baltic Amber “pulled out” diseases from the body and “attracted” good luck.Much in the same way it attracts dust when rubbed. Associated with St. John the Baptist. It was gathered on St. John’s Day and soaked in olive oil to create an anointing oil called the “Blood of Christ”. It is said that the red sap “bleeds” in August on the day when St. John was beheaded. The ancient name Fuga Daemonum (Scare Devil) and the Latin name Hypericum (“over” + “apparition”) attests to its usefulness in driving away evil spirits. The latter may also refer to the fact that it was hung over religious icons. It was hung in the home, and carried as a talisman. It was also used to protect from lightening strikes. One legend says that if you step on a St. John’s Wort plant, you will be stolen away by a faerie horse. St. John’s Wort was also used for divination of romance and longevity. It was hung over the beds of the members of a household to divine their longevity. The sprig that was most wilted the next morning indicated who would die the soonest. Keeping a sprig under your pillow is said to grant you a vision of St. John who will promise that you will live another year. If no such vision comes, however…expect you will soon die. All of these should, of course, be done on Midsummer or St John’s Eve. It is traditionally burned in the Midsummer Fires. Flowers brought into the house on Midsummer Day are said to protect the household from a myriad misfortunes, including invasion by evil spirits, the evil eye, illness and fire. https://thewitchery.ca/product/st-johns-wort/

Lavender has always been considered a magical herb, its uses have changed throughout time. In the 16th century it was frequently hung above doorframes to prevent evil spirits from entering buildings. It was also said that having lavender in your home or bathing in it would prevent “evil fits” from occurring. On St. John’s Day, the Spanish and Portuguese throw lavender onto the floor of their churches or in bonfires to ward off evil spirits. Later, in the 19th century, travelers would sell lavender on the streets throughout Europe to protect against bad luck and bring good fortune. It is associated with attracting and deepening love, fertility, peace, calming, protection, success, and attaining money. Carrying can help grant one love, peace and good health, and beside the bed it will attract good dreams and benevolent spirits. https://thewitchery.ca/product/the-lavender-reliquary/

The Flower of the Magic Fern is said to bloom only once a year, on the shortest night - the night of Ivana Kupala. It was believed to be the only time of the year when the earth revealed its secrets. Ferns bloomed to mark places where its treasures were buried, the trees spoke & moved, & the wild witches gathered. On this very special night, the enchanting blossom of the magic fern awakens but only for a brief moment. Its magical light is not cast in the visible world but is illuminated in the soul of anyone that discovers its blossom setting them on a clear pathway to their true calling without any indecision.
