due to my busyness with some serious projects I abandoned the comical aspect in my artworks, hence the first thing after graduation was bringing laughter in my life and work. developed in touchdesigner, a projection mapping is covering the corner with unwashed cups and zu verschenken box in @klassedigitalegrafik classroom, that is located right in front of the entrance door. using faceapp and proximity sensor, I animated my face and faces of the classmate to cultivate more smiles. thank you @soyunparrrk for this great workshop and help!

homecoming.wishious.de (link in bio) hey, it's nilya throughout the last couple of years I have initiated the project that went way beyond the scope of a graduation work. together with more than fifty collaborators from different countries I worked on Homecoming — web archive, publications, installation, exhibitions... I moved to another city to ask @slavsandtatars how to work with cultural heritage, went up the Ketsh mountain five times, wrote, designed, interviewed, printed, practiced bookbinding, coded, and asked for help many many times... to put it short: Homecoming is an artistic-ethnographic project about the heritage and my relationship to the village of Khinalig. Located in north Azerbaijan, Khinalig is home to an Indigenous minority that speaks a unique language. I, an artist of Khinalig origin, explore the nuances of digitalisation and institutionalisation and ask how a trained designer can help the community overcome these issues. i made some flashy photos so you can share this project with others, but please give the website a look and read. the website contains the 3d archive of archaeological findings and a landing page with all the publications and project documentation 🏔️ I am so grateful to all my collaborators and mentors for joining me on this journey @dundundunj who embarked on a journey with me @sleeping_lylov for eternal guidance and proofreading @kaminarinai designed this site with care and love @qianxun.chen wise and turbo fast programmer @privet.ya.nika amazing monography illustrations @inthemountains.art for letting me show the first iteration of the project @lamonkeeey for capturing the most lively pictures of the village and most importantly, @khinalig_reserve and my dad, Farhad Musaev for their invaluable research and production contribution and emotional support love, nilya @digitalmediabremen

I would like to invite you to my graduation exhibition called Homecoming. Posting the original photo instead of the poster, a picture I took in 2023 with my dad and my friend @dundundunj on the way to Khinalig Homecoming is an artistic-ethnographic project about the heritage and artist’s relationship to the village of Khinalig. Located in north Azerbaijan, Khinalig is home to an Indigenous minority that speaks a unique language. Nilya, an artist of Khinalig origin, explores the nuances of digitalisation and institutionalisation and how a trained designer can help the community overcome these issues. Khinalig, the village on the mountain, was too isolated and remote for archaeologists and museologists, so the first excavations started only around 2010. Nowadays, there are three museums: one governmental and two initiated by the residents. The residents are curating these museums by themselves, and so far, there is little to no interference from the side of the government. It is not a white cube; you can touch and use some objects. There are unwritten stories about the things exhibited, the museum, the future of the village, and archaeological excavations. Now that the village is slowly gaining the attention of tourists and researchers, how can one preserve the local initiatives and curatorial decisions, and most importantly, keep the objects where they were found? Maybe it is possible to build an alternative environment for those who want to research, publish, and exhibit. The exhibition opening is on 3.04, Thursday at 15:30 in Galerie Dechanatstraße in Bremen, Germany Supervised by Dr Petra Klusmeyer, Prof. Dennis P Paul (@dennisppaul ) and Mikhail Lylov (@sleeping_lylov ) With invaluable contributions of Khinalig residents and especially İzzət Bağırov @khinalig_reserve , scientific worker of Khinalig reserve I hope to see you there, Nilya @hfkbremen @digitalmediabremen
