When molecular nanotechnology meets community-centered research 🤝 Our interdisciplinary collaboration brings together synthetic biology and anthropology to tackle water safety challenges where they matter most. By combining molecular nanotechnology with on-the-ground ethnographic research, we’re not just building diagnostics—we’re co-creating solutions with the people who need them most! Excited to share another exciting media feature in the @chicagosuntimes ! We’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing journalists who are speaking out on behalf of concerned Chicagoans. Today’s front page features Southeast Side neighbor, Solomé, who has, for years, been using a sink-attached faucet and pouring it through her water pitcher. Since having her water tested by us, she has a new understanding of her water quality and was excited to get her hands on a new, bigger, lead-filtering water dispenser.

Thank you @noeltbrennan for this feature on our work that aired last week on @cbschicago There’s a long way to go for lead service line replacement— our test is already starting to help people in @chicago and @cityofevanston make informed choices for their household when it comes to drinking water. #gettheleadout

Today, we presented biosensor water quality tests to local teachers at @bcse_nu Symposium at @chicagobotanic ! Students heard about biosensor development, got to play with some fluoride tests, hear about how lead testing is impacting communities and get inspired to bring biosensor technology into their classrooms! Looking forward to collaborating with some amazing educators next school year :-)

The Southeast side’s newest coffee shop is lead-aware! When sourcing their dishes, they really wanted to keep it authentically cultural and safe for everyone! Stop by and have your coffee “for here” in one of their lead-free artisan mugs. @colibricoffeechi is a regular work spot for the Wise-Dx team :) check ‘em out! Tell ‘em you heard about their mugs from us!
