Never thought I’d be here. Never thought we could afford college, let alone grad school.
Never thought I was smart enough to be a seminary student. And I definitely never thought I would be able to manage two jobs at the same time while completing 74 units full time (and most days, I didn’t lol).
Never thought a woman like myself, or a woman at all, could stand behind the pulpit.
And yet, God has a habit of overturning the things we thought would “never” be possible.
I can’t doubt Him now. Never again.
My college roomie got a new roommate last weekend, and I got to celebrate with people I’ve grown alongside for almost a decade. 🥹 This was the most special week celebrating the most special couple and friends :) Love you Matsudas!!! ❤️
My pastoral residency is complete! So grateful to @christchurchsm , and excited to take the role as Pastor of Student Ministries! Ain’t God good?!? 🥲❤️
I’ve struggled back and forth with the ethics behind Christian “short term missions” and have questioned if it does more harm than good. This year’s trip to Kenya with @fortheboyskenya has given so many answers to such questions.
While this wasn’t my first time to Kenya, it was my first time returning. And returning has made the experience far richer than the first time around. When you return, you build off friendships already made and fulfill promises you were able to keep. If you are going to do any sort of non profit work abroad, consider returning. If there is a cause that stirs your heart, return to it. If there are people you meet and relationships made with others living in a different world than you, return to them. Don’t let something impact you just once, return to it, over and over.
If returning or even going once isn’t an option for you, consider giving to @fortheboyskenya and @chosenchildrenofpromise this holiday season. They are Kenyan run organizations that work year round to change the lives of children living in the slums. The best news is that the work never stops! If you would like to learn more, feel free to reach out to me or @jcweee to answer any questions. :)
I love you Kenya— until next time! I can’t wait to return. ❤️
