My new song In Doorways is out today. I wrote it with @joshualukerea over a year ago in his studio. We sat and played piano and guitar for about half an hour and wrote the whole song without really trying, which is always nice. Then we spent a year and a half trying to make it better before realising we liked it as it was. And when I say we, I mean me. It is not about literal doors.

Thrilled to introduce a stunning new venture from our very own James Draper 🙏🏻 James has begun a new profoundly personal songwriting journey which has resulted in some truly heart wrenching and unique pieces of music. Well - I mean it’s folk music, so it’s nothing we haven’t heard before - but it’s the lyrics that really define this work of art. They’re raw, pure and unrefined. Unedited, even. It’s clear that he’s the only one who’s listened to them, rugged and unkempt as they are. It’s a refreshing change from the more polished, grammatically correct offerings of past works, when he collaborated with artists who challenged him and pushed him in a way that made him reach his fullest potential. It’s refreshing, did I mention that? I love how NEW it is, I mean clearly we’re not lacking in sad folk music at the moment and it’s certainly not filling a niche, but it’s inspiring nonetheless. Refreshing. Okay yeah, some might even say it’s irrelevant, unnecessary, some might say ‘why are you doing this? Was it me? What did I do to deserve this? I can only give you all of myself I can’t do any more than that, I know you need to ‘find yourself’ or whatever but you really believe you didn’t even need to ASK? Did you even CONSIDER that MAYBE one of these songs could be the one that elevates this band, this project over a decade in the making, to the heights we so boldly mapped for ourselves when we were best friends in high school?! Did it even cross your CURLY LITTLE HEAD THAT I HAVE INVESTED JUST AS MUCH AS YOU, AND THAT WITHOUT YOU I’M LOST AMIDST A SEA OF TROUBLES THAT CHURN WILDLY LIKE THE STORM INSIDE MY SOUL?!’
This track ‘High Time’ is my personal favourite, and will be released on all platforms soon. Can’t wait!
