Today is an exciting day! After months of the team working on this behind the scenes, our CEO @smausk sat down with @stephaniehughesjournalist at @marketplaceapm to share a peek into Winnie’s future and what the future of childcare will look like with AI.
When we originally built Winnie 10 years ago, we built it because technology had not caught up to the expectations of millennial parents. Parents expected to be able to search on the internet to find childcare but daycares and preschools were for the most part offline.
Expectations have shifted once again, thanks to AI. Parents don’t want to filter through 350,000 childcare providers anymore. They want to describe what they need in natural language and have AI directly connect them with the real-world providers that best fit. That’s exactly what we’re building.

AI has not meant we have hired less at Winnie. In fact, we’ve only hired more since we started incorporating AI into the business. And in a trust-based market where parents are making one of the most consequential decisions of their family’s life, we don’t want to replace the relationship parts of our business with AI either.

Winnie’s CEO just had the privilege of attending the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit at the U.S. Department of State, hosted by First Lady Melania Trump alongside other tech leaders and first spouses from 45+ nations. It was a day all about using AI to educate the next generation.
There was a big focus on AI-based tutoring apps but also a recognition that children (especially young children) learn best through human educators! AI can also be transformative in reducing the administrative burden that pulls educators away from the kids in front of them.
Glad to see education has the national (and global) spotlight!
