During the 6-week holiday program at NYFA, sponsored by @multichoicetalentfactorywa I was part of a team of phenomenal students who, just like me, loved cinema. As a student, I worked on multiple projects across writing, directing, producing, editing, sound and even colour grading. These projects challenged not just my creativity, but my discipline, teamwork and understanding of storytelling as a craft. The experience was intense, wholesome, and I am grateful for the one-year training from MTF because it prepared me and laid the foundation, while NYFA pushed me further. Both experiences have shaped me and here are five key takeaways from this experience. 1. Story is the core of everything. Real life can be boring, but the dramatisation of real experiences can make up great cinema. 2. Don’t ever skip pre-production, but be quick to adapt and have grit when you hit a roadblock. I had a hard time casting for my final project. I had to shift my shooting date; a lot of things went wrong despite all my efforts at preparation. But being solution-focused was the game-changer for me. 3. Teamwork makes the difference. You cannot make a film on your own, you need people, and you have to show up for them aswell, that is how you build a tribe. 4. There is a process to everything; don’t skip it, and when you are in doubt, ask questions. 5. Be open to learn and relearning. Shooting in New York was a totally different experience from what I knew back home. I had a conversation with Nausheen about this, and she told me, “Don’t rush your shoot, take your time. Where are you running to?” She is absolutely right. This has been a life-changing experience, and I am forever grateful to @multichoicetalentfactorywa for this investment.

We started something and I think it's beautiful. It's the African Cinema Club, an interactive community on X where we discuss and promote African cinema, films and documentaries. This community was born out of the need to fill a need, a space where we holistically watch, learn and discuss films by Africans, African-Americans and the diaspora. I am glad to announce that in just one day, the community has over 500 members and counting and we know they're still more to come as we look forward to the future. On that note, we will be having our first discussion as a community on Saturday, 14th on X by 6 pm (WAT) and we will be discussing Jeremiah Mosese's This is not a burial, it's a resurrection. I earnestly invite everyone to join our community and movement. Thank you.

This is an attempt to summarise a whole year in pictures but it's more than a "what is your name and what did the Lord do for you" scenario. This year I became an Aunty. Lael Ajogwu Achimugu was born August 25th and I like August now. I used to hate the month because my dad died on August 16th but now it's cool. I can say my dad came back to me. I started the gym but had to stop because of time issues. Well, let's just say my tummy and all the muscle I tried to build has gone back. It is well. Lol. I was in a couple of cool projects both as writer and subtitle editor. If I say what gives me anxiety the most, I'll say my career. In the words of Timothe Chalamet, I want to be the greatest. Lol, so here we are building it brick by brick. Did I say I started writing on Tinsel and give or take I may have written more than 20 episodes now which I am grateful for. Long may Tinsel live on our screen. Myself and Marve moved to a new apartment and it has been great. Lots of space and we are always in awe of how far God has brought us even though sometimes we don't act like we are blessed. Ife, Yums and I wanted to start a podcast, we didn't but we will. Hold me by this post, ehmm...hold Yums and Ife more. I also tried soju for the first time and ehmmm...never again. All in all, 2025 was a beautiful year. It gave me some of my best memories and I may make another post because like I said, it's more than "what is your name and what did the Lord do for you". ❤️

I read this book The boy, the mole, the fox, the horse and the storm by Charlie Mackery and wanted to share some of the message in it. I think my best is “when you think of everyone you love, I hope you include yourself “
