Hi beautiful friends. Next Tuesday we'll be sharing a gooey little lullaby called Finally Arrived, the second single for our upcoming EP Hello Sunbeam. I feel blessed and fortunate to collaborate with @francescabonci_visualartist who made another absolute banger of a video for us. Very psyched by how it turned out. Here's a sneak peak! Full video and song are out next week 4/28 ✌️

Very happy to present the full music video for our new single Home. The video was made by the wonderful and talented @francescabonci_visualartist using mixed media and analog equipment, and I'm really stoked about it. This song is about acknowledging something beautiful, even if it can’t last. Two people who feel naturally paired, like elements of nature, slowly decomposing and self-destructing. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. You can now find it on our bandcamp, or wherever you listen to music. And if you want to see us play this song live, we'll be on first at 8pm sharp this Thursday, 3/26, at @startheaterpdx with @gvth_dvddy and @nightspotsband . Hope to see you there :)

It's humbling and an honor to have such a great group of musicians join me in what used to be a dinky little hobby in my basement. Writing weird songs, trying new mic techniques, rearranging my pedal board for hours to achieve a tone that may not exist. Now, WOODEN OVERCOAT is fully formed with Mac on guitar, Dillon Glusker on bass, Brian Levin on Drums and backing vocals, and myself playing guitar and lead vocal. We sound like a warm wall of reverb-drenched guitars and I love it. I've been collaborating with the brilliant @francescabonci_visualartist who made a music video for our upcoming single. We wanted to give you a peak into what we've been doing, so here's a teaser. The full video and song will be out everywhere next week, 3/24 📷 @chaunceyii

First post in forever! This was my thanksgiving pick this year and it brings back memories of other great Oregon Pinots that have taught me the beauty of this grape/place. Day one had a spicy red fruit/cherry character that was so crystalline and deep! Only to give way to the show today—earthy in the way only WV can be, completely on Jory here and the iron shows. Dark cherries that taste fresh from the earth and, I know everyone says this, but a spice character that can literally only be sandalwood. Rare that a wine gets me feeling this sentimental and nostalgic. A great reminder to be thankful for our local terroir✌️

2013! Really pleasing intersection between serious/classic and fun/natty. Nose was so wide open with funky Syrah character. Black olive, horse hide, bacon fat, garrigue, you know… Bright palate with red plum, raspberry and cherry fruit accented by olive tapenade, new leather and eucalyptus. At about 2.5 hours this wine seemed to completely transform into a brooding version of itself with more inky bitterness on the finish and generally much darker nose. Low sulfur was apparent all along, though, and at about 3 hours open a bit of mouse showed up. All in all a very wild ride! #wine #winebecause #frenchwine #rhonewine #northernrhone #syrah #cornas #naturalwine

Lean and mineral thanks to a bit of bottle age. Clean streak of acid and volcanic with light tannin. Structure outlines a completely unique terroir expression of Etna. Could this sit longer? Yes, it certainly could for 2-3 years, because #nerellomascalese is cool✌️

Despite my undying love of Beaujolais, I’m often disappointed with aged versions. This is the rare example that shows tertiary flavors with the balance of acid/fruit that could even keep this wine together for a year or three longer. Nose is deeply floral on the edge of earth and tobacco. The amount of fruit is surprising on the palate. It’s fresh! Red cherry and dried strawberry with brown spice and decayed autumn leaves. Strong acid drive on the palate gives nerve to all the youthful flavors, defying the development that was on the nose. Also, what’s up with the two n’s in Julienas? #wine #winebecause #agedwine #beaujolais #gamay

One of my happiest finds in a while. Vivid white peach/young apricot fruit wrapped around a distinctive Wachau river-mineral core. In a beautiful stage of youth. #wine #winebecause #austrianwine #riesling #austrianriesling #wachau #wachauriesling #agedwine

I’d like to think that I drink across the board—and definitely lean heavily towards lower intervention—but then there’s the BDX conversation. I love a traditional, austere Bordeaux. Sure, they probably inoculate, and yes, the farming is often ‘lutte raisonée’ at best, but there’s a little homecoming-style comfort in every bottle that tastes like this. 90/10 Mer/CS from sites that abut Margaux. Plush elegance, a bit smoky/cigarre in the fashion of old world claret with beautifully long, soft tannin. For once, the new oak (25%) does the right thing! The wine is softened, even accented by wood but—thank God—I’m not put off by its existence deep in the profile. Needless to say, this is the right type of Bordeaux for me. Thanks @parkavenuewines #wine #winebecause #frenchwine #bordeaux #margaux

Treat. Too ripe to taste Burgundian imo but the touch of brett and nutritional yeast/mushroom are there. Still so bright on the attack with an incredible smooth, developed finish. Hasn’t fully evolved to potting soil yet but dirty roots are what this wine is all about. Occasionally the nose is still so fresh and bright like a crushable WV PN. That being said, with 21 years this has developed into an umami dream. 👹

My first experience with Királyleányka. The rest of the blend is made up of Riesling, Hárslevelu and Furmint with 5 days skin contact. Apricot, orange blossom, nutmeg and sandalwood nose. Even more aromatics burst with food! In this case, @neals_yard_dairy Stilton. Fleshier orange and pronounced florals play with the fruity, savory and salty cheese. Light to mid weight mouth with lighter, wood-like tannin. Drinkable on its own, but of course, like the flavors in any great wine, only half the story is in the bottle. The other half is told with whatever’s on the table. Thanks @pairingspdx for the special bottle! #wine #winebecause #orangwine #skincontact #hungarianwine #királyleányka #riesling #harslevelu #furmint
