Set and lighting process! Hours of work in 17s This was an interesting set to light, I had to push the fill light way down because it would over expose the bright white on Steve (the herring gull) so I had to add 1 back light and 3 highlights to make the desk and props pop without over exposing Steve. Shout out to @rosco_labs the DMG Dash Octa Kit is unreal and great for stop motion sets! As always an absolute pleasure to work with these great peeps @fishwife.studios

Any guesses what anthropomorphic animal this is going to be? Here is my next custom made armature, 3D printed and silver soldered for @fishwife.studios So much fun working with these talented peeps and plenty more on the way! Sadly I build this armature before I found out the best way to polish the parts but I’m very pleased with the shoulder articulation which can move up and down and shrug forwards and backwards. #stopmotion #armature #characterdesigns #animation #puppetry

4 custom made armatures for the second year stop motion character animation module @animation_falmouth These armatures have a selection of 3D printed torsos pelvises and midriffs at different scales, with tailored silver soldered limbs to fit the students character design. The heads have mouth and brow magnetic replacements where each student will hand sculpt their own expressions into each replacement part. I then ran an armature building workshop with the students where they lean how to build their own personalized armature. (The hands are just for show and actually belong to another puppet) Version 2 is already underway with increase rotation on the x axis of the shoulder joint to allow the armatures to stretch the shoulders forwards and backward, increase neck movement and silver soldered k&s with a nut to make the hands easily replaceable and secure. A well fun scene to board, animate and problem solve from my student film @burnoutstopmotion For the first shot I had to work out how to do a trombone zoom which ended up all in camera by zooming the camera in on a track and zooming out on the lens. For the movement of the puppet I wanted him to zip around the screen so I used multiple limbs and shot on a long exposure while moving the puppet by hand to create smear frames.
