🌳 This was the première of WOOD 🌳 ‘WOOD’ is an immersive theater experience in VR. Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert start with a tea ritual, made from the wood of the Tree of Life. As a group you then go on an excursion in the field. The excursion takes you and your fellow travelers in a strange parallel world, just after a cataclysm. This is were you enter the virtual world and let yourself be guided by Robbert&Frank and your own intuition. Each participant experiences what it is like to let go. “Who or what am I in this new place? Why am I here?” The answer to these questions will only reveal itself when you dare to take the first step (literally). Because only by physically moving, you experience what is possible in this supernatural reality. 🌱 Artwork of the Month. This months artwork announces ‘WOOD’ - the third part of the ‘Table Dialogues’ series in which Frank and Robbert use new technology to connect people. ‘WOOD’ is all about immersion; as the audience embarks on an excursion to the liminal field. Think: camping stools, nighttime in a forest, a tea ritual. 🫖 Then you enter the virtual world and let yourself be guided. The virtual world sharpens your senses and intuition. It is a participatory experience that introduces the Tree of Life and shows how mycelium functions. Think: network visualization, menhirs, a strange plant-world. 🪵 This immersive journey let’s the audience experience the boundaries of what is real and the impact that one can have on the world. The performance flirts with the big questions of life and opens up the debate around virtual reality. Frank and Robbert use this medium as a new artistic tool to create with; but at the same time they highlight the inherent dystopia that hangs around the medium. 👓 ‘WOOD’ is part of the @beyondtheblackbox.antwerpen , an interdisciplinary festival in Antwerp. We’re very happy to share that the VR artpiece 'Panoptical Dissidence' received production support from the VAF Flemish Artistic Game Fund! This support allows us to professionalize what began as academic research and bring it to broader audiences as a critical and immersive VR experience. We’re aiming to premiere Panoptical Dissidence at the @africamuseumbe in Brussels. At its core, *Panoptical Dissidence* is about 'unmasking mechanisms of control' — from colonial propaganda to the subtle oppressive systems that still shape our lives today. The work invites players into a virtual reconstruction of the 1913 Panorama of Congo presented in Ghent, Belgium, now reimagined through the voices of powerful artists who resist and reframe dominant narratives. We also will develop the 'Emergent Voices Semantic AI system', visitors can engage in real-time dialogue with the artworks, fostering reflection, relational awareness, and co-authorship. It’s not just about looking — it’s about positioning yourself, listening, and responding. Great working with @r_en_f ! @tabledialogues is a collection of three intimate, immersive participatory performances.Table Dialogues is a project that unites extended reality, interactive theatre and visual art. It is the brainchild of artist duo Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert and is based on their personal experience in playing and making. Step into their shoes and experience in small groups – of friends or strangers – what it’s like to enter and activate a new universe. In this post we present the participatory performance EARTH, it's ‘played’ with 4 people who autonomously co-create a personal cosmos. They do this with the help of analogue elements like cray and black clay, in combination with digital tools like Virtual Reality.
