I’ve been coming to Haines since 2004. Finally, after years of talking it up, my two daughters, @emma.wiss who’s 25 and @franniewissman who’s 15, got the chance to come up last season for a week and experience the place that took me away from them for so many years. Over the summer, we formulated a plan that would get them five weeks here with SEABA. They’ve been working on our housekeeping staff at the lodge (literally scrubbing toilets). With no promises to ski, they have showed up every day cleaning up after our guests with the hope of getting some time in the bird. The other day, we got out for 4 runs in the trees and they took advantage of each run in true Wissman fashion. I couldn’t be more proud to be their Dad, and SEABA is lucky to have them around.

Over the years, I’ve watched both pro skiers and riders as well as every day ski bums attempt to work their way into big mountain spine terrain. It’s a dream that’s more difficult to obtain than one may think. Lots of things have to come together from Mother Nature to mindset to physical ability. Over the last 3 years, I’ve witnessed @a_dansky work through all the hurdles it takes to do it right. Seeing him succeed has been a real pleasure. #rprtrightcrew

Here are some images from a fortunate couple days before and after the @freerideworldtour event here in Haines. Being there as @mia__jones_ started working her way into some Alaska terrain was a real treat. Watching both @rylandbell and @victordelerue help her dial in scale and sluff management was a cool process to witness. She is clearly a natural and I look forward to watching her progression in the coming years. The future for female big mountain riding is in good hands. Thanks to @jonessnowboards for making it happen. #rprtrightcrew
