EXUMASđď¸đâď¸
We started this season with one goal in mind: make it to the ExumasâŚand ohhh babyyyy WE MADE IT!!!
It was a lot of hard work, long days, and straight up stubborn determination to get ourselves here, but now itâs time to take it slow, enjoy peaceful anchorages, and island hop our way down the chain!đď¸đâľď¸đŹđ

SV Summit Bahamas 2025⌠what a season!
We have been back in the United States for about two weeks now, after spending 3 full months aboard our 36 foot sailboat cruising around The Bahamas. It was the adventure of a lifetime and a journey we will never forget.
Hereâs a little reflection of things I learned, am proud of, and am grateful forâŚ
From when we first set off on our adventure on March 1st, to when we returned home June 28th, we have grown an exponential amount. Not only did boat life stretch us as individuals, forcing us to slow down and reflect upon our own strengths and weaknesses, it also grew our unity as a team. Communicating effectively, working together towards solving problems, and relying on each other to do our part EVERY DAY was essential for the success of our common goal. Needless to say, not every day was easy, but we always stuck it out as a team and we are proud of ourselves for that.
We also learned and grew a ton as sailors!! If you had told us at the beginning of it all that our final sail back home was going to be a 27 hour, 160 nautical mile, offshore jump from Saint Augustine to Beaufort, in rocky seas and good wind, we wouldnât have believed you. Will makes an absolutely incredible sailboat captain!! Itâs simply amazing, and Iâm lucky to be his first mate.
The people of The Bahamas, the community of other boaters we met, and the overall lifestyle of it all filled us with so much joy and peace. In a fast paced world, it can be easy to forget about what really matters. Itâs the fast friends you share a sunset with, a welcoming atmosphere in a new place, and the peace and gratitude that fills you when youâre alone in nature.
We are so grateful to have had such a successful first season, exploring Bimini, The Berry Islands, Spanish Wells, and all around The Abacos! BUT, there is still SO MUCH more of The Bahamas to explore⌠which is why we have decided to keep the adventure going and set off again next year! We have our sights set on The Exumas and beyond!
THANK YOU to everyone who has followed our journey and cheered us on along the wayđĽ°â¨âľď¸đ´đŹâď¸đĽĽđ§đ¸
Over 1,300 nautical miles down, many more to goâŚ
So this is what I have been up to for the past year⌠@leannastrohecker and I started dreaming up the idea of sailing to The Bahamas back in February 2024. We werenât ready to sign a lease and hustle in the film industry (especially with the strikes), so we bought a boat and set out in search of a grand adventure instead.
After months of prep, we set sail from Beaufort, SC on March 1st, sailed down the coast to Key Biscayne, and made our first ocean crossing to Bimini on April 1st. Since then we have been exploring all around the islands, swimming in the bluest waters, meeting sailors from around the world, and conquering some awesome ocean sailing!
Captaining our boat has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life so far. Not only have I had to be a sailor, but a mechanic, navigator, weatherman, plumber, and overall handyman as well. Iâve learned and grown so much, and I couldnât have asked for a better first mate than @leannastrohecker to tackle it with.
Itâs been the adventure of a lifetime, and itâs not over yet! Check it out: @sailingsummit on Instagram and TikTok! (Also, weâre shifting through all our camera footage to make an adventure recap doc this summer)
Doppelgänger - This is another project I did at the end of my Junior year in 2022. I have a lot of memories from this one and learned a lot from it, including that shooting on the beach is not as fun as it seems lol, still, I had a great time with the cast and crew to make this small short! Thank you to everyone who worked on it and who are continuing to!
