Just over two years ago the world was rocked with a geomagnetic storm that produced northern lights seen as far south as Mexico! β€’ πŸ“· Aurora curtains moving overhead while I was out in a country field on the night of May 10 2024. β€’ #auroraborealis #northernlights

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? β€’ Last weekend we went to Point Pelee for the first time, and what an incredible place for bird migration. Geographically, it is the southern most point of Canada and the first point of landing for birds crossing Lake Erie. It was a quieter start to the migration while we were there but we saw some beautiful birds. β€’ πŸ“· We saw two Prothonotary Warblers in their swampy habitats, they were either singing or staring at their reflections in the water πŸͺž β€’ #prothonotarywarbler #pointpelee

More days like these please β˜€οΈ β€’ πŸ“· Season opener days at Old Baldy last month always brings unpredictable weather. It rained in the morning but cleared up for a beautiful late afternoon climb. Even better when it's catching up with friends. @katesauberli @dereklanthier @kelslander @dustin.jj @always_kean_ β€’ #oldbaldy #ontarioclimbing

The Silver Heron, aka Great Egret. β€’ They were nearly hunted to extinction for their aigrettes: long and delicate feathers displayed during breeding season. Aigrettes in French is Silver Heron. β€’ πŸ“· A Great Egret was hunting in my local pond for a few nights in a row allowing for some flight shots under soft light. Colour or B&W? β€’ #greategret #burb

If you're not falling, you're not trying hard enough 😀 β€’ It was so great to see so many climbers back at Devil's Glen last weekend now that climbing is officially in the park management plan! If it's your first time going there, bring a guidebook or have coordinates to where the trailhead starts and where the gullies are to get to the base of the cliff. The hiking sign on Hwy 124 is no longer there but the trail is obvious when looking for it on the south side of the road. β€’ πŸ“· Wayne (@wontonboy ) logging some air time while checking out Wild Fire (5.13c) on the Sunworshipper Wall at Devil's Glen. β€’ #ontarioclimbing #devilsglen

Throw back to climbing on sweet sandstone in Kentucky πŸ‡ β€’ As the days get warmer, I look forward to climbing in shorts like we did in Kentucky. β€’ πŸ“· Monika (@misswii ) on Hole Grain Oats (5.11a) at Hole New Wall in PMRP, Kentucky, a few autumns back. β€’ #redrivergorge #pmrp

Climbing is official at Devil's Glen πŸŽ‰ β€’ ICYMI, Ontario Parks has made amendments to include rock climbing as an activity in the Devil's Glen management plan! This also includes expanding the park boundary to include the adjacent Crown land and to build a small parking lot. β€’ This could not have happened without the support of the community who wrote in comments in support of the amendment! ❀️ As a community, we've secured climbing here for future generations and set the framework to include climbing in other provincial parks. The Ontario Alliance of Climbers (OAC, @ontarioallianceofclimbers ) spearheaded this campaign by working with Ontario Parks over the years to get to this point. The OAC has worked hard with other organizations in the past to allow access for climbing in Halton Region, Niagara Glen and Halfway Log Dump πŸ™ β€’ πŸ“· Hoping to see climbers return to Devils Glen and enjoy classic routes on the History Wall, which was part of the Crown land acquired by the park. Chris Devay on Mystery Of A Lost History (5.12a) and Ben Wilcox (@wilcox.b.p ) on Chica Loca (5.13b) last spring. β€’ #climbingaccess #devilsglen #ontarioclimbing #ontarioallianceofclimbers

Looking forward to days like these. β€’ Old Baldy season opener this past weekend brought sunshine and crisp conditions! It was a surprisingly quiet day at the crag and it reminded me of a quiet after-work session last summer. It was a crisp evening with winds that helped float Keanan and I back-to-back to the top of Christina's World and helped Dustin make great attempts on his annual check-in of Bionic Spaceboy. Hoping for more days like those this season, but for now, it's rebuilding the pyramid. β€’ πŸ“· Dustin (@dustin.jj ) working out the reachy moves on Bionic Spaceboy (5.13d) and Keanan (@always_kean_ ) sending Christina's World direct-finish (5.13a) last August on a beautiful summer evening. β€’ #oldbaldy #ontarioclimbing

Morning sunrise from Easter Monday πŸ‡πŸŒ„ β€’ πŸ“· The Collwest Grain elevators greet you as you enter Collingwood from the east off the main highway. I've always wanted to snap a sunrise of it but needed to find the right angle for it. β€’ #sunrise #collingwood
