Fishing with the @nyc_anglers for a piece about how it’s now safer to eat bass caught in the Hudson. @reelfishingwitabanks in action here, catching a 30lb striped bass
Embarrassing dad video, featuring a six year old in a jumpsuit. I shot it landscape so it’s cropped here and he keeps disappearing from the screen. I can’t tell if this makes it slightly more exciting, like a Bourne film where he’s out of shot some of the time
This great film about acting by @sophiefiennesofficial is playing until Thursday at The Quad in NYC. If you are interested in acting or performance or film or if you find yourself staring moodily into space and asking ‘what is my motivation?’ and ‘what am I doing in the East Village this afternoon?’ I would heartily suggest that you go along and get the answer from a whole team of Macbeths and Lady Macbeths
I’ve written an open letter to the next mayor of New York, offering him the massive, once in a lifetime opportunity of a spot on our Sunday night football team. We play right next to the Gracie Mansion. We could do with an ambitious man at the back
I spoke with Harper Lee’s nephew and her biographer about a set of lovely short stories she wrote while living in NYC. She lived in the Manhattan neighbourhood where I live now, when it had more cinemas and German sausage emporiums (it still has one or two). There’s a driving in NYC story and a funny quite dark piece, that is vaguely like Dorothy Parker, about a friend who lands in NY after being kicked out of university. Her parents back home in Alabama ‘enjoyed their martyrdom too much to have it destroyed by her presence…. In two weeks they received more supper invitations than they had in a year’
I got to speak to Michael J Fox about filming Back To The Future, at 24, with no rehearsal and in the middle of the night, after a long day shooting a TV show. In some of the early sequences in the car park, he was apparently as startled as we are when Doc leaps from the DeLorean. It was v exciting to talk to him, for the Sunday Times
