7th Grade Overnight Trip to the American South
Last week, our 7th Graders traveled through Georgia and Alabama for an overnight field trip, visiting the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, Edmund Pettus Bridge, Freedom Monument Sculpture Park, and National Memorial for Peace and Justice, among many other stops. Through each visit, students engaged directly with pivotal moments in the fight for civil rights, deepening their understanding of justice, awareness of Jim Crow laws, and the responsibility of remembrance. A powerful journey of learning that will stay with them far beyond the classroom.

Closing out an Awesome April!
We returned to school after Spring Break, and jumped right into hands-on learning and new curricular units. Friendships flourished, our community congregated for events like the Celebration of Dance and Science Sunday Funday, and imaginative ideas bloomed along with the life in our gardens! It’s amazing to think we’re almost done with our 2025/26 school year, May and June will have plenty more to celebrate!

5th Grade Notan Animal Symmetry
5th Graders discussed the concept of symmetry and identified shapes in nature that have symmetry. They also talked about NOTAN, the Japanese principle of dark-light balance, and discussed the difference between positive and negative space.
Students then selected an animal for a symmetry project. They drew half of the animal’s face, adding details in the form of shapes that could be cut out. Finally, they cut and reflected all the pieces on a contrasting piece of paperand glued them all in place. The resulting piece is a complete symmetrical, colorful animal face that causes the viewer to question which is the positive space and which is the negative space.
This project combines concepts from Art, Math, History, and Design Thinking. Great Job 5th Grade!

Celebration of Dance!
This annual showcase of movement and music was a spectacular show, highlighting the incredible talents of our Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders, Middle School dancers, and even Alumni! Dancers demonstrated a variety of styles, from contemporary and jazz to energetic 80s-inspired pieces and so much more. Our 8th grade students also wowed the crowd as they took the stage to present solo pieces.
It was a joyful, high-energy celebration of creativity and talent, and we are so proud of everyone who made the evening truly unforgettable. Thank you to all who joined us for this special event!
