DAWN VESSEL 🌅 What you see is 💯% recycled ♻️ copper.
Hand hammer raised from flat into a tulip form.The next step was to use a novel process to grow crystalized metal on the surface of the vessel. This creates the unusual texture which is made up of crystalized and patinated copper.
I have learnt so much from this project. I was so close to giving up on so many occasions and this one object took about 4 months of banging my head against the wall. But persistence paid off and I'm happy with the result and the excited to make more.

Learning the fundamentals of a craft or art practice is absolutely essential ✨ Often in contemporary art education people are encouraged to get conceptual and experimental before they learn the basics.
That's like trying to reinvent the wheel when you dont know what pi is 🔄 Or trying to reinvent pie when you dont know shortcrust from puff 🥧... or some other much better analogy.
What im trying to say is learning good technique and understanding the essentials will unlock so much creative potential 🍃 🍂
In the process of practice is where the magic of ideas and inspiration happens! ✨🔨
Here's me setting a base on a vessel, a technique I learnt with @raunihigson during my @qestcraft training. Good technique like these have added so much finesse to my work and given me the confidence to pursue experimental designs! 🔥
