Join me at Nicki Franklins studio, The Stitchery in Ecton, England.
SATURDAY 22nd AUGUST 2026
After much hinting from Nicki @nickifranklin_needlework for me to make a pattern and do a workshop for my Lapboard, we will be making the Lapboard from my new and popular ‘Lapboard and Stitching Accessories’ pattern.
The Lapboard is a useful stitching accessory, acting as a portable tabletop, keeping tools and notions together on one surface; it also
acts as a portable ironing board. The matching pincushion and scissor fob complete this useful and
pretty collection. Adorn it with my whimsical hares and botanicals to make it a truly unique yet usable piece.
We will use hand techniques including Embroidery, Applique and English Paper Piecing. We will stitch with lovely hand dyed woven wool from @blackberryprimitves and I will provide full tuition and guidance, ensuring you have the knowledge to complete your project.
Come and join me for a fun day of whimsical stitching in this beautiful rural and inspiring setting.
For further information and to book a space please email me at [email protected]

I had a wonderful day out in Winchester at the MADE Arts and Crafts Fair at @winchestercathedral
I finally got to meet the lovely and super talented @meganivygriffiths whose work I have been a fan of for many years. To spend some time talking all things embroidery was a pleasure, and of course, I had to bring a few things home with me!
It was lovely to finally meet you Megan and will definitely keep in touch! Thank you for your beautiful creations that touch my soul xx
This month I got to spend a few days away stitching and antiquing with my lovely friend Barrie @stitchfolk and she very kindly gifted me two of her wonderful project bags that I have wanted for some time.
Thank you Barrie, I will treasure them and think of you when I use them. I hope to see you again in the Summer ❤️
- In The Meadow Quilt -
Through tumbling leaves and grassy meadows full of flowers, the hares run.
This beautiful design was inspired by my love of the countryside, botanicals and the seasons that offer us an ever changing landscape.
This project is whimsical, folksy and primitive in design, and incorporates my love of mixing different fabric types and hand stitching techniques.
I use a mixture of cottons and hand dyed woven wool, and include my favourite past times of hand appliqué, embroidery and English paper piecing.
Finished size 40 x 46 inches.
Available in my Etsy Shop: WillowHareStitching (link in bio)
I love my Jane Hogben pottery @hogbenpottery collection that sit on these little shelves and other areas of my kitchen .. the light of Spring brings the soft pastel colours to a gentle glow.
I have met Jane at so many wonderful venues over the last 15 years, and each piece holds a memory. Not only do the colours appeal to me, but the animals and botanicals she decorates them with as well.
