We're so honored to have won the @thecgbg Green Building of the Year Award. We are humble and grateful - there were so many incredible projects nominated this year that deserved the recognition and we're proud to be able to work alongside such amazing colleagues that are so dedicated to sustainability! We strive to work on projects that delight, sustain, and give back. This would not have been possible without the incredible work done by @willow_wind_construction . . . . #coloradoarchitect #passivedesigns #sustainablearchitecture #palisadecolorado

The Green Building of the Year Award is given to celebrate the most innovative, well-designed and beautifully constructed sustainable building located in Colorado and was designed or built by a Colorado firm. Meet the Colorado River Retreat: Green Building of the Year Nominee. Energy conservation was central to this all-electric, net-zero-ready home. Before solar installation, it achieved a HERS ERI of 37, with a projected -18 after adding an 8 kW solar array, exceeding the average home rating of 100. A high-efficiency heat pump reduces heating and cooling loads by 62.7%-76.9%, while a heat pump water heater cuts hot-water energy use by 84.7%. LED lighting and Energy Star appliances reduce peak winter electric consumption by 58.5%. Materials were selected for minimal environmental impact: FSC-certified wood, TimberTech exterior panels with 60-80% recycled content, and low-carbon metal siding, which further reduces embodied carbon. Can you see the any difference between the windows and doors on this project? The owner of this incredible DADU by @willow_wind_construction selected our Vue7 UPVC windows and our Alu7 aluminum doors and lift and slide. This is an awesome combo that provides a ton of value. UPVC windows offer the highest level of performance per dollar available, while aluminum doors offer unmatched fit and finish and durability. 📸 @thevandesar

Continuing into the Colorado River house we have several Japandi inspired elements. Cypress accent wall with a bench and shoe storage. Naguri texture above the bench adds a hewn feel. Large Shoji-esque bypass doors across from the entry bench provide lots of storage for coats.

We believe in ADUs as smart and appropriate urban infill. Who can beat the convenience of downtown living? Living in turn-of-the-century housing can be a compromise in comfort. We have done several ADUs designed for owner occupancy. This allows for all of the benefits and comforts of high performance building, while providing the downtown life. This all electric NetZero ready home has a two car garage, large deck, carport, and comfortable living perched above the noisy streets.

From zero to hero. A quick addition and kitchen remodel with not just an island, but a continent to anchor the space.
