STANDARDS = GOALS
In today’s world, a lot of people have the goal of achieving a certain title, when really, in my view, we should be focused on achieving certain standards.
I love perusing the Internet in search of standards to uphold and here I’ve found Paris Opera First Soloist @ines.mcintosh
She generously offers us many glimpses into her class work, and I can see that she struggles with some of the things that I struggle with in terms of hyper mobility, particularly with the feet — but also she is struggling a lot less than I am 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but I also think it’s inspiring to see that her dancing is just as beautiful even with all of these continued challenges that we’re working on.
One of my favorite teachers @williamwaldinger411 always says that “Ballet is the relentless pursuit of an Unachievable Perfection”.
I think this sums it up so exquisitely: that yes, perfect or not, we must be unrelenting...

For our audience…
And for the Ballet Legends who came before us and show us over and over that titles are not as meaningful as the beautiful dancing itself.
